Senior Solar PV Design & Substation Engineer (GW-Scale) – Remote (Full-Time or Hourly)

Overview We are an engineering and project development firm managing utility-scale and gigawatt-scale solar energy projects. We are seeking a highly skilled, meticulous, and experienced Solar PV Design Engineer to join our team. This role is open to both Full-Time (Remote) and Hourly/Project-Based arrangements, depending on the candidate's qualifications and availability. You will be responsible for taking raw project data (PVsyst simulations, preliminary site layouts, specific inverter/module brands, and target energy calculations) and transforming them into a complete, bankable, and construction-ready engineering package. All designs must strictly adhere to IEC standards. Key Responsibilities • Detailed CAD Design: Develop comprehensive 2D/3D civil and electrical DWG blueprints using AutoCAD / PVcase (Layouts, structural details, trenching, and grading). • Electrical Architecture: Design detailed Single Line Diagrams (SLD) and Three-Line Diagrams from the PV modules down to the substation connection. • Inverter & Equipment Integration: Implement specialized configurations for specified premium inverter brands, optimizing either Skid-mounted (Central) or String inverter configurations. • Cable Routing & DC/AC Optimization: Perform precise DC/AC cable routing layout and sizing, voltage drop calculations, and string optimization to minimize losses. • Substation & Grid Connection Design: Design the Medium Voltage (MV) to High Voltage (HV) substation layouts, including transformer sizing, switchgear specifications, and protection schemes. • Compliance: Ensure all engineering calculations, clearances, and earthing/grounding systems comply fully with IEC standards. Required Qualifications & Technical Skills • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of proven track record in utility-scale (MW to GW) solar PV power plant engineering. • Software: Expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD, PVcase, PVsyst, and electrical simulation tools (e.g., ETAP or DigSILENT for substation/grid analysis is a major plus). • Standards: Deep working knowledge of IEC standards (e.g., • Deliverables: Ability to produce high-quality, construction-ready DWG sets, detailed bill of materials (BOM), and technical specifications sheets. • Communication: Strong English communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, milestone-driven environment.
