Senior Technical SEO Consultant – WordPress Multilingual Architecture (Polylang, hreflang, URL Restructure) Overview We are seeking a Senior Technical SEO Consultant – WordPress Multilingual Architecture (Polylang, hreflang, URL Restructure) to audit and restructure a live WordPress website with a bilingual English/French setup. This is a technical SEO architecture project, not a content, keyword research, or basic on-page SEO task. The site is already built and functioning, but the current multilingual structure is inconsistent and must be corrected at the architecture level to ensure: correct indexing and language targeting elimination of duplicate and overlapping pages proper hreflang implementation stable long-term SEO performance in both English and French markets We are specifically looking for someone who understands SEO system design and multilingual architecture, not just execution or plugin setup. Current Situation The website has structural SEO issues including: hreflang tags are completely missing from page source Polylang is installed but not correctly structured for SEO-level multilingual mapping French URLs are fragmented across multiple systems: root-level pages (e.g. /services-de-demenagement/, /a-notre-sujet/, /secteurs-desservis/) nested service structures (e.g. /services-de-demenagement/services-demballage/) location-based service hybrid pages under /secteurs-desservis/ English structure is mostly under /en/ but not aligned with French equivalents Multiple pages overlap in intent (services duplicated across service and location pages) Sitemap contains inconsistent and non-standard URL patterns No strict 1:1 mapping between English and French pages Objectives The goal is to create a clean, scalable bilingual SEO architecture that: enforces strict 1:1 mapping between English and French pages eliminates duplicate and overlapping content structures correctly implements hreflang across all equivalent pages clearly separates service pages from location pages establishes a consistent URL taxonomy across the entire site Scope of Work 1. Full Technical Audit Review full site architecture (EN + FR) Identify duplication, cannibalisation, and structural conflicts 2. SEO Architecture Design Define a final bilingual URL structure (EN/FR) Establish clear rules for services, locations, and supporting content Ensure scalability and long-term maintainability 3. Multilingual System Fix (Polylang) Ensure true 1:1 translation relationships between EN and FR pages Eliminate mismatched or orphaned translations 4. hreflang Implementation Implement correct hreflang sitewide Ensure reciprocal EN ↔ FR linking for all equivalent pages Validate correct output across templates 5.
