Senior Vocal Production & Ableton Mixing Engineer

Our music division is seeking an experienced and highly creative Senior Vocal Production & Ableton Mixing Engineer to support ongoing music production projects. This role goes beyond traditional vocal mixing. We are looking for a specialist who can serve as both a technical engineer and creative vocal producer, helping transform vocal recordings into polished, commercially competitive productions. The successful candidate will be responsible for refining vocal chains, enhancing production workflows, contributing creative vocal processing ideas, and collaborating in live remote sessions. ## Position Overview We are seeking an engineer who understands that great vocal production is not simply compression, EQ, and tuning. We are looking for someone who can listen to a vocal and immediately identify creative opportunities such as: * "Let's run a parallel vocoder here." * "Let's automate Saturn on the hook." * "Let's duplicate this phrase and pitch it down an octave." * "Let's process this harmony through Guitar Rig." * "Let's use MicroShift instead of a traditional doubler." * "Let's create a James Blake-style ghost vocal behind this section." * "Let's automate widening and saturation during the chorus." * "Let's build a custom vocal texture for this transition." We are looking for an engineer who brings ideas to the table and understands how to create memorable vocal moments. ## Primary Responsibilities ### Vocal Production * Professional vocal tuning and pitch correction * Melodyne editing * Timing correction * Vocal comping * Vocal cleanup and restoration * Harmony development and enhancement * Creative vocal processing * Vocal layering and texture design * Vocal effects automation ### Mixing & Engineering * Update and optimize existing Ableton Live projects * Refine and improve existing vocal chains * Build custom Ableton vocal chain templates * Design advanced effects chains * Improve overall workflow efficiency * Deliver professional, release-ready vocal mixes * Create and organize project templates and presets ### Creative Collaboration * Participate in live Zoom or Google Meet sessions * Review projects collaboratively * Suggest new production techniques and workflows * Provide creative direction regarding vocal treatment and sound design * Recommend new plugins, routing techniques, and processing methods when appropriate ## Required Qualifications ### Technical Requirements * Expert-level Ableton Live experience * Advanced Melodyne proficiency * Strong vocal tuning and editing skills * Professional vocal mixing experience * Advanced knowledge of vocal processing techniques * Experience building custom effects chains and racks * Ability to work directly inside Ableton project files ### Plugin Experience Experience with some of the following is preferred: * FabFilter Suite * Saturn 2 * Waves Plugins * CLA-76 * R-Vox * R-Comp * F6 * C4 * NLS * Abbey Road J37 * iZotope Nectar * Valhalla DSP * Soundtoys * Auto-Tune * Melodyne ## Preferred Creative Background Experience creating vocals influenced by artists such as: * James Blake * Daft Punk * Kanye West * Bon Iver * The Weeknd * Electronic and alternative 80's artists * Experimental vocal production We value engineers who understand how to create vocals that feel: * Wide * Emotional * Melodic * Atmospheric * Futuristic * Expensive * Radio-ready * Unique ## Deliverables * Updated Ableton project files * Final vocal mixes * Vocal chain recommendations * Custom presets and racks * Workflow improvement recommendations * Session notes and implementation guidance ## Application Requirements Please submit: 1.
