Senior C# WPF Windows Desktop Developer — Drive Management Application

ArchiveStack Manager – Phase 1 Module 1 of 5 Project Overview ArchiveStack Manager is a Windows desktop application that complements the ArchiveStack hardware product. This posting covers Module 1 only of Phase 1. The project will be developed in fixed-price modules, and developers who successfully complete Module 1 will be given first opportunity to quote on future modules. Module 1 Scope Build a drive detection engine and opening screen. Detect connected drives automatically and display drive letter, name, type, file system, capacity, used space, free space, health status, connection type, last updated status and last backup date. The screen must update automatically when drives are connected or disconnected. Deliverables Automatic drive detection; opening screen; Ready/Name This Drive/New Drive statuses; hot-plug detection; warning highlights; tray notifications; testing on ArchiveStack hardware; screen-recorded demonstration before milestone approval. Technical Considerations Please explain your recommended approach for drive health monitoring, detecting changes since backup and uniquely identifying drives regardless of drive letter changes. Preferred Technologies C#, .NET 6+, WPF, WMI and SQLite. Alternative approaches may be proposed where appropriate. Developer Requirements Solo developer only. Strong C#, WPF and Windows desktop application experience. Experience with WMI, device detection and file-management applications is highly desirable. GitHub Requirements Development will occur in a client-owned private GitHub repository. Code should be committed regularly using feature branches and pull requests. Payment & Intellectual Property Fixed-price milestones only. Payment via Upwork escrow. All source code, documentation and deliverables become the exclusive property of the client upon payment.
