Senior XML/XSLT Developer – S1000D Multi-Version Stylesheet Development We are seeking an experienced XML/XSLT Developer to design, develop, and maintain a comprehensive set of XSLT stylesheets for an S1000D technical documentation platform. The successful candidate will work on transforming S1000D Data Modules into web and print-ready formats while supporting multiple S1000D issue versions and publication requirements. Key Responsibilities • Develop, maintain, and optimize XSLT stylesheets for S1000D XML content. • Create stylesheet sets for: S1000D Issue 4.0 S1000D Issue 4.1 S1000D Issue 4.2 S1000D Issue 5.0 S1000D Issue 6.0 • Transform S1000D XML into: HTML5 Print-ready HTML PDF (XSL-FO, Apache FOP, or equivalent) • Support major S1000D Data Module types: Descriptive Procedural IPD Fault Maintenance Planning Crew Wiring Process Other supported module types • Implement support for: Tables Figures and multimedia references Cross-references Applicability BREX compliance Conditional content Publication Modules Common Information Repositories (CIR) • Ensure compatibility across different S1000D issue versions while minimizing code duplication. • Collaborate with developers and technical publication specialists to define formatting and publishing requirements. • Review existing stylesheets and recommend improvements to performance, maintainability, and standards compliance. Required Skills • Strong experience with XML, XSLT 2.0/3.0, XPath, and XQuery. • Experience developing large-scale XML publishing solutions. • Knowledge of HTML5, CSS, and print publishing workflows. • Experience with PDF generation technologies such as XSL-FO and Apache FOP. • Familiarity with Git-based source control workflows. • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex XML schemas and transformations. Preferred Qualifications • Hands-on experience with S1000D (Issues 4.x, 5.0, and 6.0). • Experience with technical publication systems used in aerospace, defense, transportation, or manufacturing industries. • Knowledge of BREX, Business Rules Exchange, and Publication Modules. • Experience building reusable stylesheet architectures supporting multiple S1000D issues.
