Summary

Sheet Metal Product Designer Needed - Create Manufacturing Files for Laser Cutting & Bending (DXF / CAD / SolidWorks) I am looking for an experienced sheet metal product designer / mechanical engineer to convert my concept sketch into professional manufacturing-ready files for a laser cutting and bending company. The product is a metal cabinet/enclosure that will be manufactured from galvanized steel sheets. I already have the basic dimensions, assembly concept, and sketches. I need someone to optimize the design for efficient manufacturing and lower production cost. Project requirements: - Create complete sheet metal design files: - 3D CAD model - Manufacturing drawings - DXF files for laser cutting - Bending drawings with bend lines, angles, and instructions - Assembly drawings - Design must use a knock-down (flat-pack) assembly method: - Panels will be laser cut and bent separately. - Use pre-welded studs on one sheet and matching L-shaped slotted holes / slide-in slots on the opposite sheet. - Panels should slide into position and be secured using nuts and washers. - Reduce welding requirements as much as possible. Material optimization is very important: The main frame (shown in grey in my sketch) will use: - Galvanized steel sheet - Thickness: 3mm - Standard sheet size available: 2400mm x 1200mm The design must optimize cutting layout (nesting) to maximize the number of parts per sheet and reduce material wastage. Front and back panels (shown in white in my sketch): - Galvanized steel sheet - Thickness: 1.2mm The designer should consider: - Sheet utilization - Minimum waste - Efficient bending process - Manufacturing cost reduction - Strength and durability - Easy assembly Additional accessories such as locks, hinges, handles, electronics, and other components will be provided later with exact measurements, and mounting points must be added accordingly. I will provide: - Initial sketch/reference drawing - Overall dimensions - Accessory details Looking for someone with experience in: - Sheet metal fabrication - Laser cutting - CNC bending - Design for manufacturing (DFM) - Cost optimization Previous experience designing cabinets, enclosures, lockers, electrical boxes, kiosks, or similar sheet metal products is preferred.
