Shopify Architect (Senior Developer)

We are seeking an experienced Shopify Architect to lead the design, development, and implementation of complex Shopify and Shopify Plus solutions. This role requires deep expertise in Shopify architecture, custom application development, enterprise integrations, data migrations, and scalable eCommerce ecosystems. The ideal candidate combines hands-on Shopify development experience with strong solution architecture skills and can translate business requirements into robust technical solutions. You will work closely with stakeholders, developers, product teams, and third-party vendors to architect scalable commerce solutions that support growth, operational efficiency, and exceptional customer experiences. Key Responsibilities Solution Architecture & Technical Leadership Design and architect enterprise-level Shopify and Shopify Plus solutions. Lead technical discovery sessions and gather business requirements. Create scalable architecture for multi-store, multi-region, and international commerce environments. Define technical standards, best practices, and development frameworks. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams. Shopify Development & Custom Applications Architect and oversee the development of custom Shopify applications. Design solutions using: Shopify Admin API Storefront API GraphQL Webhooks App Proxies Shopify Functions Checkout Extensibility Build and maintain integrations between Shopify and external systems. Review code quality, performance, security, and scalability. Platform Integrations Design and implement integrations with: ERP systems OMS platforms CRM platforms PIM solutions Payment gateways Logistics and fulfillment providers Architect middleware solutions and data synchronization strategies. Define event-driven architectures utilizing webhooks and API integrations. Shopify Migrations Lead complex migrations from platforms such as: Magento WooCommerce BigCommerce Salesforce Commerce Cloud Adobe Commerce Custom-built platforms Develop migration strategies for: Products Customers Orders Collections Content SEO metadata URL redirects Ensure data integrity and minimal business disruption during migrations. Marketplace & Omnichannel Commerce Architect integrations with: Amazon Walmart eBay TikTok Shop Google Merchant Center Meta Shops Design inventory synchronization and order management workflows. Implement feed management and product catalog synchronization strategies. Support omnichannel commerce initiatives and marketplace expansion. Shopify Plus & Advanced Commerce Features Lead implementation of: Shopify Plus Shopify Markets B2B Commerce Multi-Currency Multi-Language International Storefronts Checkout Extensibility Shopify Functions Design scalable B2B and wholesale commerce solutions. Optimize customer experiences across multiple regions and channels. Performance & Scalability Optimize storefront performance and Core Web Vitals. Design solutions that support high transaction volumes. Implement monitoring, logging, and observability best practices. Ensure security and compliance across integrations and applications. Required Qualifications 4+ years of experience in Shopify development and architecture. 3+ years working with Shopify Plus implementations. Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise Shopify solutions. Strong expertise in: Shopify Liquid JavaScript / TypeScript React Node.js GraphQL REST APIs Experience building custom Shopify applications. Deep understanding of Shopify's API ecosystem. Experience with enterprise system integrations (ERP, OMS, CRM, PIM). Strong knowledge of event-driven architectures, webhooks, and middleware patterns. Experience leading platform migrations and replatforming initiatives. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Shopify Functions and Checkout Extensibility. Experience with Shopify B2B and Shopify Markets. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Experience with middleware technologies and integration platforms. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. Experience working in Agile development environments. Contributions to Shopify apps, open-source projects, or technical communities.
