Shopify Designer/Developer — Premium Performance Apparel Brand
Worldwide
We're a US-made performance endurance apparel brand targeting serious cyclists, triathletes, and runners. Our Shopify storefront (Symmetry theme) is functional but reads as templated. We want it to feel like it was built from scratch for this brand — the way MAAP, Pas Normal Studios, and Bandit feel. What we have A pre-existing Figma file covering the current site design. Your job is to update and elevate that file, design several key pages, and implement in Shopify. We're in production on a major photography and content upgrade, so part of this engagement is building the system those assets land into. What we need The core problem is that the site feels like Shopify, not in the best way. Default padding, template grid energy, obvious section blocks. We want that stripped out entirely. The visual benchmark is MAAP, Pas Normal Studios, Bandit Running — brands that feel headless and custom even if on standard infrastructure. Specific scope: Audit existing Figma file, identify gaps between spec and live site Redesign and elevate key pages: homepage, collection pages, PDP, Made in USA story module, brand/about, SKNKWRKS membership landing page Establish a proper typographic system using our existing font package (Nebulica + Inter, self-hosted) Whitespace, spacing, and grid system that feels editorial, not ecommerce template Design photo-ready hero and editorial modules that activate fully when shoot assets land Implement in Shopify Symmetry via CSS/Liquid — no replatform, no theme switch. We are going to Shopify Plus if the thought of full headless makes a lot more sense, its a discussion piece. You Strong Figma skills, not just wireframes — we want elevated visual design Shopify Liquid and CSS implementation experience, comfortable making a theme feel custom Portfolio that includes premium DTC apparel or lifestyle brands — show us work that doesn't look like Shopify Can work async with a lean founder-led team Design and implement, or design with a trusted dev resource you bring — either works Share your rate, relevant portfolio links, and a note on how you'd approach making a Shopify theme feel truly custom.
