Shopify Developer Needed (Dawn) for Existing Store, Design & CRO Optimization
Worldwide
We’re looking for a Shopify developer to take over an existing project that is already built. The store is intentionally lightweight and built on the Dawn theme. It's a small site (approximately five pages) consisting primarily of a homepage, landing page, product page, About page, FAQ, Privacy Policy, and a few standard supporting pages. The foundation is already in place. The ideal candidate will be able to come in, methodically work through a checklist, proactively identify any issues, and deliver polished, production-ready work. Scope of Work Responsibilities include: - Optimize the product page and landing page for both design and conversion rate optimization (CRO). - Add free shipping and easy returns badges beneath the Add to Cart button. - Add additional trust/risk-reduction messaging where appropriate. - Ensure secure checkout/payment card icons are implemented consistently throughout the site. - Create an Average Order Value (AOV) booster section on the product page that can remain disabled until it's ready to be tested. - Add a floating 25% Off promotional button site-wide. - Ensure all Shopify apps and widgets are installed and configured correctly and functioning as intended. - Make the free shipping announcement bar sticky while scrolling. - Apply brand colors and typography consistently throughout the site. - Verify that all email flows are functioning correctly. - Add a bit of Liquid if needed to polish the design. - Install and verify the homepage popup so it displays and functions properly. - Continue refining the design until the final result meets expectations. - Ensure copy is correct. - Create concise screen-recorded walkthroughs showing how to: - Add new products - Upload product images - Manage inventory - Update email flows How We Work While we’re happy to use messaging for contract communication, site feedback itself is often handled through screen recordings for efficiency. Applicants must be able to receive and understand Loom video instructions, watch them carefully, follow the details, and implement everything discussed without needing the information rewritten in text. As such, this requires solid English proficiency. The ideal developer is technically capable but also proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently. A clear checklist and project direction will be provided, and every item is expected to be completed thoroughly and according to instructions before work/milestones are submitted. If something is unclear, questions should be asked. If something is inconsistent or could be improved, it should be brought forward. One of the biggest challenges we’ve experienced when hiring UW developers in the past is work being marked as “complete” even though portions of the agreed-upon scope were missed or only partially implemented. We'd then have to backtrack to determine what had been done and what still needed to be completed, which became time-consuming and unsustainable for us. To avoid this and ensure a positive experience for both parties, please apply only if you are able to work through a checklist or screen recording carefully, verify and audit your own work for accuracy and completion, and deliver genuinely complete milestones on time. If this doesn’t sound like something you do regularly, it’s probably not a good fit. Thank you for understanding. We have a wonderful team of freelancers and are excited to find a dev who’s the right fit! Requirements Please apply only if you: - Have extensive experience developing Shopify stores using the Dawn theme. - Have a strong eye for clean, modern ecommerce design. - Understand conversion rate optimization (CRO) and ecommerce best practices. - Are highly detail-oriented and organized. - Test your work before delivery. - Communicate clearly and respond promptly. If you typically take a few days to respond, this is not the right fit for you. - Can deliver the first milestone within 3 days of accepting the contract. - MUST have strong technical troubleshooting skills in the Shopify environment. Long-Term Opportunity This project is intended to be the start of a long-term working relationship with a dependable Shopify developer who can continue supporting new features, ongoing improvements, troubleshooting, and future projects as the business grows. To Apply **Please note that proposals that do not include all four items listed below will be ignored and not considered.** Please include: 1. Examples of Shopify stores you've built or significantly customized (especially Dawn theme projects). 2. A brief description of your CRO or ecommerce optimization experience. 3. Please attach two screenshots of two different Shopify backend sections you customized 4. Please attach a screenshot of snippet of Liquid code you wrote.
