Summary

What we are building Not a catalogue. A world. Our website needs to make someone feel something before they buy anything. The experience is vibe-first - customers navigate through mood-based editorial worlds, find their aesthetic, and shop. Requirements: 1. Homepage: immersive, editorial, vibe-based doorway navigation with animations 2. Six collection landing pages: each a distinct world with its own palette, copy tone, and editorial feel - same structure, completely different soul 3. Optimised PDP: CRO-optimised, conversion-focused, premium feel 4. Security: Cloudflare configured to block bad bots while allowing Googlebot, AdsBot, and AI crawlers - we've had bot attacks before, and the fix needs to be surgical, not blunt 5. Mobile-first: 80%+ of our traffic is mobile. Every decision starts on mobile, not desktop 6. Minimal app dependency: the theme does the work wherever possible, or we build out the features, Apps are fine, but we want to keep it to a minimum. You should have complete expertise on the apps to integrate and doing it as seamlessly to the code and UI as possible. What we need from you Technical skill is the baseline. What separates the right person is everything else. You need to understand what "quiet luxury" means without a three-hour briefing. You need to look at a reference image and understand what feeling it's trying to create. You need to have opinions - about layout, about pacing, about what works and what doesn't - and be willing to share them even when they push back on our ideas. We are not looking for an executor. We are looking for a thought partner who happens to write excellent code. Specifically: - Strong Shopify expertise: Liquid, JavaScript, theme customisation, speed optimisation - Experience with premium lifestyle, home decor, or fashion brands — not just e-commerce generally - Cloudflare and security configuration experience - Design sensibility: you don't need to be a designer but you need to be able to tell good design from bad - Clear, honest communication: tell us what won't work, what will cost more than expected, what we haven't thought of - Mobile-first thinking: not mobile-compatible, mobile-first To apply (IMPORTANT) We will not read generic proposals. If yours begins with "I am an experienced Shopify developer with X years of experience," we will not respond. Instead, please send us three things: 1. One Shopify store you have built that you are genuinely proud of. One link. No portfolio decks. 2. Two sentences on why you're proud of it. What decision did you make that you stand behind? 3. Look at our current website (studiocovers.in). Tell us one specific thing you would fix immediately and why. This is not optional. It tells us whether you actually looked - and whether you understand what we're trying to build. Applications without all three will not be considered. Practical details Budget: Please propose your rate and estimated hours. We will share a detailed scope document with shortlisted candidates. Timeline: Looking to start within 2 weeks. Location: Remote. India-based preferred but not required. One last thing If you read this post and had specific thoughts - about our website, about the reference sites, about how you'd approach the doorway animations - that's a signal you're the right person. If you read it and thought "I can do Shopify," you're probably not.
