Shopify Developer for Variant Issues
Worldwide
Shopify Developer Needed: Fix Variant URL / Colour Swatch / Product Feed Issue for Fashion Store Job description: We need an experienced Shopify developer to urgently fix a product variant / colour swatch issue on our fashion e-commerce store. Our store is built on Shopify using the **Horizon theme**. We also use the **Easy Variant Images** app. We are a womenswear brand. Most styles come in two colourways. On the Shop All and category pages, we intentionally show each colourway as its own product tile. This visual merchandising setup must stay. We want customers to see all colourways separately on Shop All and category pages. Current issue: When a customer clicks a colourway tile from Shop All, they land on that colourway/product URL correctly. For example: * Customer clicks Mini Skirt in Black * They land on the Black PDP However, inside the PDP, if the customer clicks the White colour swatch/block, the images change to White, but the URL does not update to the Feather White product URL. It stays on the original Black URL. This is causing problems with: * Shopify product variant logic * Google Merchant Center * Google Shopping / Google Ads * Meta catalogue / Meta ads * Pinterest catalogue / Pinterest ads The product URL/title can say one colour, while the visible images or selected colour show another colour. This is creating mismatched product data in our feeds. Required outcome: We need the colour swatches inside the PDP to either: 1. Navigate/link to the correct matching colourway product URL; or 2. Correctly update the selected variant URL and product data so that the URL, selected colour, images and product feed data stay aligned. For example: If the customer is on: `/products/-mini-skirt-black` and clicks the Feather White swatch, they should be taken to: `/products/-mini-skirt--white` or an equivalent correct variant URL that updates the browser URL, selected colour, imagery and product data. **Important requirements:** * Shop All and category pages must continue showing each colourway as its own product tile. * Each colourway tile must open the correct colourway/product URL. * PDP colour swatches must not simply change images while leaving the wrong URL active. * The active colour swatch should still appear selected/underlined. * PDP image galleries must show the correct colourway images only. * Google Merchant Center must receive the correct product title, colour, URL and image. * Meta catalogue must pull the correct product image and URL. * Pinterest catalogue must pull the correct product image and URL. * The fix must be tested on one product first before being applied across all products. * Please do not delete products, variants, images or app settings without approval. * Please back up the theme before making changes. Test product: We would like to test the fix first on: on of our products before we hire you. Once confirmed, the same logic can be applied across the remaining styles. Deliverables: 1. Review current Shopify product setup, Horizon theme and Easy Variant Images app. 2. Identify why the colour swatch changes images but does not update/navigate to the correct colourway URL. 3. Fix the swatch/URL/product data behaviour. 4. Test one product first. 5. Confirm that Shop All/category pages still show all colourways separately. 6. Confirm PDP colour switching works correctly. 7. Confirm Google Merchant Center, Meta catalogue and Pinterest catalogue are receiving correct variant/product URL/image data. 8. Provide a short explanation of what was fixed and how to maintain this setup going forward. Ideal freelancer: * Strong Shopify theme development experience * Experience with Shopify variants, product media and variant image apps * Experience with Shopify product feeds for Google Merchant Center, Meta catalogue and Pinterest * Comfortable working with fashion/apparel stores where colourways appear separately on collection pages * Able to work quickly and carefully without breaking the live store Please include examples of similar Shopify variant, swatch, product feed or Google Merchant Center fixes you have completed.
