Shopify Migration Developer Needed | Complex E-Commerce & Inventory Integration

We are seeking an experienced Shopify developer or Shopify agency to lead the technical implementation of a large WooCommerce-to-Shopify migration for an established nursery and e-commerce business. This is not a simple theme setup project. The site includes a large product catalog, complex shipping rules, inventory synchronization with a third-party ERP/inventory system (VMX), regulatory shipping restrictions by state, SEO-sensitive URL migration requirements, and integration with ShipStation. We are looking for someone who has successfully completed similar Shopify migrations and can work collaboratively with our project management and SEO team throughout discovery, development, testing, and launch. Project Scope: Platform Migration Migrate existing WooCommerce store to Shopify Import products, categories, variants, images, metadata, and inventory Configure Shopify storefront, collections, customer accounts, payments, taxes, and shipping Migrate content including blogs, informational pages, policies, and resource content Support migration of active customer records where applicable Theme Development Implement and customize a modern Shopify theme Maintain existing brand identity while improving UX and performance Mobile-first responsive design Build reusable templates for: Product pages Collection pages Blog posts Informational pages Policy pages Configure homepage sections including hero banners, featured collections, events, reviews, articles, and store information Product Catalog & Data Structure Migrate a large catalog with: Multiple variants Complex attributes Product metafields SEO metadata Configure Shopify metafields for plant-specific attributes including: USDA growing zones Sun requirements Mature size Bloom time Botanical name Other horticultural attributes Search & Filtering Implement advanced search and filtering functionality using Shopify-compatible search solutions such as: Searchanise Boost AI Search Algolia Similar alternatives Required filtering includes: USDA Zone Plant type Sun requirements Mature size Additional custom attributes Integrations VMX Inventory System Critical requirement: Bidirectional inventory synchronization Inventory updates from VMX to Shopify Order and inventory updates from Shopify back to VMX Near real-time synchronization preferred Experience with API integrations is required ShipStation Configure and test ShipStation integration including: Order synchronization Tracking updates Fulfillment workflows Shipping label workflows Complex Shipping Logic Current shipping structure includes: Box-size-based shipping calculations Weight-based shipping rules Product-specific packaging requirements Location-based shipping logic Developer will evaluate Shopify-native and app-based solutions to replicate or improve existing shipping workflows. Regulatory Shipping Restrictions Implement automated restrictions based on: Product type Destination state Agricultural compliance requirements Examples include: Citrus restricted outside Texas Grapevine restrictions in specific states State-specific inspection requirements Contiguous U.S. shipping only SEO Migration SEO preservation is a major priority.
