Shopify Strategy Consultant & Platform Expert

We are developing our agency into a Shopify-focused ecommerce agency and are looking for a highly experienced Shopify consultant who can serve as a strategic platform expert and trusted advisor. This is not strictly a Shopify development role. We need someone who understands the full Shopify ecosystem and can help our team evaluate opportunities, recommend solutions, and stay ahead of new Shopify products, features, integrations, and industry changes. The ideal candidate may not personally execute every type of Shopify project, but they must understand Shopify well enough to consult confidently across the platform and help determine the right strategy, technology, partner, or implementation approach. Areas of Expertise You should have strong knowledge across many of the following areas: * Shopify and Shopify Plus * Shopify AI tools, including Shopify Magic and Sidekick * Shopify Collective * Shopify Markets and international ecommerce * Shopify B2B and wholesale functionality * Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop, Meta, and other marketplace integrations * Shopify POS and omnichannel retail * Product feeds and Google Merchant Center * Subscription products and recurring revenue * Shopify Functions, APIs, and custom integrations * ERP, inventory, fulfillment, and operations integrations * Email and SMS platforms such as Klaviyo * Conversion rate optimization and checkout strategy * Shopify apps and app-stack recommendations * Store migrations to Shopify * Ecommerce analytics, reporting, and attribution * Shopify SEO and site performance * Emerging Shopify features, AI advancements, and ecommerce trends ## Responsibilities * Serve as a strategic Shopify advisor to our agency * Consult on client opportunities, audits, proposals, and solution planning * Help determine the best Shopify products, apps, integrations, and workflows for each client * Review complex Shopify challenges and recommend practical solutions * Assist with scoping Shopify projects before they are assigned to developers or specialists * Identify new Shopify services our agency should offer * Educate our internal team on Shopify updates and platform advancements * Help us create repeatable Shopify service packages, audits, and consulting processes * Participate in selected client calls when advanced Shopify expertise is required * Help identify when Shopify Plus, B2B, Markets, Collective, AI tools, or custom development are appropriate * Maintain a broad understanding of the Shopify partner and technology ecosystem Required Experience * Extensive professional experience working with Shopify * Proven experience advising merchants, agencies, or ecommerce businesses * Strong understanding of both Shopify’s technical capabilities and business applications * Ability to explain complex Shopify concepts clearly to clients and non-technical team members * Experience evaluating apps, integrations, and third-party ecommerce platforms * Strong ecommerce strategy and problem-solving skills * Ability to provide recommendations without automatically defaulting to custom development Portfolio and Credentials Applicants must provide: * Examples of Shopify stores or projects they have consulted on * A description of their role and the results achieved * Examples involving advanced Shopify features, integrations, operations, B2B, international selling, marketplaces, or Shopify Plus * Relevant Shopify certifications, partner credentials, academy courses, or other verified training * Any case studies, audits, strategy documents, or educational content that demonstrate Shopify expertise Please clearly explain which portions of the Shopify ecosystem you are strongest in and where you typically collaborate with other specialists. ## Ideal Candidate The right person is curious, strategic, technically knowledgeable, and constantly following Shopify’s development.
