Shopify Theme Developer Needed for GitHub Staging Workflow + AI/MCP-Ready Setup
Worldwide
I run a Shopify ecommerce store and need a Shopify theme developer to set up a safe theme development workflow using GitHub, Shopify CLI, and an AI/MCP-ready coding environment. This is not a redesign and not a full theme rebuild. The goal is to create a safe workflow so future CRO, accessibility, Core Web Vitals, Liquid, and Shopify theme edits can be made through version control, tested on a staging theme, and published manually only after review. The store is currently being optimized for conversion rate, mobile performance, accessibility, and product-page improvements. I need a developer who understands Shopify Liquid, Online Store 2.0 sections, GitHub workflows, and safe theme deployment. Scope of Work Please set up: GitHub workflow Create or connect a GitHub repository for the current Shopify theme Set up branches: main = live-ready / production staging = preview/testing theme feature/* = individual edits Add a simple branch/PR workflow Shopify theme workflow Duplicate the current live theme as a backup Create/connect an unpublished staging theme Connect the staging theme to the staging GitHub branch Advise whether the live theme should be connected to main now or kept manual for the first phase Ensure no direct AI/live-theme publishing Shopify CLI setup Install and configure Shopify CLI locally Show me how to: Pull the theme Run a theme preview Push to staging Identify theme IDs Avoid overwriting the live theme by mistake AI/MCP-ready setup Set up the coding editor workflow using VS Code, Cursor, or Claude Code Add GitHub MCP if available Add Shopify Dev MCP if supported by the chosen editor Do not create a custom private MCP app Do not give AI direct permission to publish the live theme Test change Make one small test change on a feature branch Open or simulate a PR into staging Confirm the staging theme updates correctly Roll back or document rollback steps Documentation Provide a simple 1-page workflow document: How to create a feature branch How to preview changes How to merge into staging How to publish safely How to roll back What not to touch Optional First Ticket Required Experience Please only apply if you have experience with: Shopify Liquid Online Store 2.0 sections and blocks Shopify CLI GitHub version control Theme previews / staging themes Core Web Vitals basics Safe deployment practices Bonus if you understand: Lighthouse LCP image optimization Shopify theme performance Accessibility fixes AI/MCP-assisted development workflows Important Restrictions Do not edit the live theme directly Do not publish anything live without approval Do not install unnecessary apps Do not rebuild the theme Do not make visual design changes unless specifically requested Do not create a complex custom AI system Deliverables GitHub repo connected Branch workflow created Shopify staging theme connected Local Shopify CLI workflow working AI/MCP-ready editor configured where possible One test branch/commit completed Rollback process documented Short handoff call or screen recording Budget Please include: Your Shopify theme/GitHub experience Whether you have used Shopify CLI Whether you have worked with MCP, Cursor, Claude Code, or VS Code AI workflows Estimated timeline Whether you can provide a short handoff recording
