We are looking for a designer to help refine and elevate our existing Shopify website as the brand enters its next stage. This is **not simply a Shopify development project.** We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of **fashion, brand identity, positioning, art direction, ecommerce, and digital experience** who can think critically about how a customer experiences our brand online. ## What We're Looking For We want someone who can look at our existing website and tell us not only **how to improve it, but why.** The right person should be comfortable providing creative and strategic direction rather than simply executing a list of requested changes. You should understand how typography, imagery, whitespace, navigation, merchandising, storytelling, and interaction design work together to communicate the positioning of a fashion label. Our goal is to create a website that feels **editorial, considered, premium, and distinctly MERCY X MANKIND**, while still providing a clear and intuitive ecommerce experience. We do **not** want a generic Shopify conversion template filled with aggressive pop-ups, countdown timers, excessive badges, or other tactics that compromise the brand experience. ## Scope The project will likely include: * Audit of our existing Shopify website and customer experience * Creative and strategic recommendations before redesign begins * Homepage refinement/redesign * Navigation and information architecture * Product detail page design and hierarchy * Collection page design and merchandising * Development of a permanent collection experience * Integration of brand storytelling throughout the shopping experience * Improved presentation of materials, construction, fit, shipping, and other product information * Mobile-first design refinement * Typography, spacing, image hierarchy, and overall visual consistency * Thoughtful use of our existing archive, editorial imagery, lookbooks, and brand content * Shopify theme customization and implementation * Creation of flexible Shopify sections that we can manage internally after launch We are open to recommendations beyond this scope if you identify opportunities that would meaningfully improve the brand or customer experience. ## Who We're Looking For Ideally, you: * Have a strong portfolio of **fashion, luxury, streetwear, jewelry, art, architecture, or other design-led ecommerce work** * Understand brand positioning and visual identity * Have excellent taste and strong typography/layout skills * Understand ecommerce UX without allowing conversion tactics to overpower the brand * Can challenge our ideas and provide thoughtful creative feedback * Can translate an established brand identity into a compelling digital experience * Understand Shopify and can either implement your designs yourself or work closely with development * Understand responsive/mobile design * Can build flexible systems rather than hard-coding a site that becomes difficult for us to update * Are comfortable working collaboratively with a founder/creative director Experience working with independent or emerging fashion labels is strongly preferred. ## What We Are NOT Looking For We are not looking for someone whose primary approach is installing Shopify apps, applying a pre-built template, or adding generic CRO tactics. We are also not necessarily looking for a complete ground-up rebuild. Our existing website and Shopify infrastructure provide a strong foundation. We want someone capable of identifying what should remain, what should change, and what should be elevated. ## Budget **Approximately $1,000 USD**, depending on experience, portfolio, proposed scope, and level of design/development involved.
