Short-Form Direct Response Copywriter for Meta Ads & Reels
Worldwide
Zac King Productions (ZKP) is a done-for-you video production and performance marketing agency working exclusively with buyers agents and mortgage brokers across Australia. We build VSL funnels, Meta ad campaigns, and GHL automation for our clients. Our core product is a 90-day paid ads sprint with a performance guarantee (15 qualified shows in 90 days or we work for free). We're moving to an ads-first model. This role sits at the centre of that. You'll be writing the scripts and copy that go straight into a client's ad campaign and directly influence whether we hit that guarantee. This is a fully remote role. Async-first, Slack-based team, weekly video huddle. The mission of this seat: Every VSL, ad script, and pre-call script for every active sprint client is written, internally reviewed, and delivered to the client with enough lead time for a proper review before the shoot. Every time, on schedule. **The number you own:** scripts delivered vs due, and days from brief to client-approved. We care more about the second number than the first. Writing fast means nothing if the client doesn't get a real chance to review before we're on set. What you'll actually be doing: - Writing VSL scripts, ad scripts (multiple hooks per client), and pre-call scripts for every new client entering our 90-day sprint - Writing organic content scripts for our existing retainer clients (talking points, story-driven scripts, YouTube scripts depending on the client) as we wind that side of the business down over time - Writing funnel copy: landing pages, email and SMS nurture sequences, for GHL builds - Working from our existing frameworks: HAIL (Hook, Anchor, Illustrate, Lesson) for scripts, and CCN (Core, Casual, New) for topic validation - Working from ICP avatars already built per client (Hopes, Dreams, Fears, Blockers). You won't be building these from scratch every time, but you'll need to understand and apply them - Delivering scripts to internal review 2 business days before the client deadline, every time. This is a hard internal SLA, not a suggestion - Working closely with our production lead and videographer to make sure scripts translate cleanly into shot lists and are locked well ahead of filming - Occasionally writing static ad copy (headline, primary text, overlay) as we roll out static ad creative alongside video What this role is NOT: - You are not chasing clients for script approval. That's the production lead's job once your copy is delivered - You are not building shot lists. That's the videographer's job, working from your approved script - You are not doing GHL implementation. You write the copy, someone else builds the funnel - You are not managing client relationships day to day Who we're looking for: **Must-haves:** - Experience writing for real estate, property investment, or finance, specifically. You understand the buyer psychology in a considered purchase category, not just general direct response - Direct response copywriting experience. You understand hooks, pattern interrupts, and why "12 to 19 kilos" beats "lose weight" - Comfortable writing to a 5th-grade reading level on command. Short sentences, short paragraphs, no fluff, no corporate speak - Experience writing video scripts specifically, not just static copy. You understand pacing, how something sounds out loud vs how it reads - Fast turnaround without sacrificing quality. This role runs on tight, real deadlines tied to shoot dates that can't move - You can use AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT to speed up research, first drafts, and idea generation, but every script that leaves your hands is written in your voice, checked against the brief, and edited by you before it's submitted. We can tell the difference between a script that's been genuinely crafted and one that's been pasted straight out of a chat window, and the second one doesn't get through review. If you lean on AI to think for you rather than to work faster, this isn't the role for you - Strong written English. Australian idiom and tone is a plus, but clear, natural, non-robotic writing matters more than nationality **Nice-to-haves:** - Experience with GHL, ClickFunnels, or similar funnel builders. You won't build funnels, but understanding how copy sits inside one helps - Familiarity with the CLOSER sales framework or similar direct response sales methodology **A note on repetition:** you'll be writing for a narrow niche, buyers agents and mortgage brokers, across a rotating roster of individual clients. Each client has a different story, avatar, and offer, but the industry stays constant. If you need constant category-switching to stay engaged, this isn't the role for you. If you enjoy going deep on one niche and getting genuinely good at it, this is exactly that kind of role. How we work: - Scripts are drafted in Google Docs, moved to our project tracker once a client approves - You'll get a locked deadline for every deliverable. Internal deadline is always 2 business days ahead of the client-facing deadline, no exceptions - All scripts follow set structures (HAIL for video, defined templates for funnel copy). We're not looking for someone to reinvent our frameworks, we're looking for someone who can execute inside them at speed - Direct, specific feedback is part of the culture here. We'll tell you plainly what's not working and why, and we expect the same directness back if a brief is unclear or a deadline is unrealistic Application process: 1. Send a Loom video (5 minutes max) walking through one direct response script you've written. What the brief was, what you decided, why 2. Include 2–3 writing samples (scripts preferred over static copy, but either is fine) 3. If shortlisted, a short test: one short VSL script written against a real (anonymised) ZKP client brief, turned around in 48 hours No cover letters. We'd rather see your work than read about it. Compensation We pay our copywriters between $1000 - $3000 AUD per month. First 30 days: what success looks like - Shadow-writes one script for an active client in week 1, reviewed against a real Vasim-era script for the same client style - Independently handles a full new sprint client's script package (VSL + 4 ad variants + pre-call) by week 3, hitting the 2-day internal deadline - By day 30, running the internal deadline discipline without needing reminders.
