# Short-Form Video Editor Needed to Repurpose YouTube Videos into Shorts PVE Agency is looking for a reliable short-form video editor for ongoing client work. The role involves reviewing completed long-form YouTube videos, identifying the strongest moments and turning them into engaging vertical videos for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok and Facebook Reels. This is not a role where timestamps and pre-cut clips will always be provided. You must be able to watch a complete long-form video, recognise strong short-form moments and create clips that work as standalone content. We have clients in all niches and fields looking for short-form content, this role requires adaptations to different content styles and preferences. ## Responsibilities * Review full long-form YouTube videos * Identify the strongest short-form moments * Select clips that can work as standalone videos * Create a strong opening hook using the available footage * Restructure sections where necessary * Remove pauses, mistakes, dead space and weak moments * Improve pacing and viewer retention * Add clean, accurate captions * Highlight important words and phrases * Add light zooms, transitions and pattern interrupts * Add appropriate sound effects and background music * Use B-roll from the source footage * Add limited stock visuals where useful * Perform basic audio cleanup and volume levelling * Perform basic colour correction * Export finished videos in vertical 9:16 format * Deliver organised project and export files * Complete reasonable revisions when required ## Editing Style We are looking for clean, engaging and professional short-form editing thats adaptable to the given client and style. The editing should improve retention without becoming overly distracting. We do not want constant unnecessary zooms, excessive emojis, loud sound effects or generic podcast-style editing applied to every video. ## Requirements * Strong short-form editing portfolio * Experience turning long-form videos into Shorts or Reels * Strong understanding of hooks, pacing and viewer retention * Accurate English captions * Ability to identify strong moments without being given timestamps * Reliable communication * Ability to follow reference videos and brand guidelines * Ability to deliver consistently * Willingness to complete a paid test edit * Ability to handle revisions professionally * Must personally complete the work unless agreed otherwise ## Software You may use: * Adobe Premiere Pro * DaVinci Resolve * Final Cut Pro Please state which software you use. ## Initial Paid Test Shortlisted editors will be offered a paid test. For the test, you will receive: * One long-form source video * Editing references * Brand instructions * A maximum finished duration * A delivery deadline You will not necessarily receive a timestamp. Part of the test is identifying the strongest short-form moment yourself. The test budget is €25. Completing the test does not guarantee ongoing work. The strongest editor may be offered regular monthly work. ## Ongoing Work The expected workload will initially be approximately 12–30 Shorts per month, with the possibility of increasing based on work quality and performance. We are aiming for a long-term working relationship rather than a one-off project. The target ongoing rate is approximately €15–€20 per completed Short, depending on quality, complexity, turnaround time and experience. Your rate should include: * Reviewing the source video * Selecting the short-form moment * Editing the video * Captions * Basic sound design * Basic colour and audio work * Up to two reasonable revision rounds ## How to Apply Please include the following in your application: 1.
