Singapore-Based Bilingual YouTube Content Producer

Singapore-Based Bilingual YouTube Content Producer and Video Editor We are looking for a Singapore-based bilingual YouTube Content Producer and Video Editor to help us transform recorded lessons into engaging long-form and short-form online content. Our lessons draw from the Bible, Judaism and related ideas, but they are intended for a broad audience rather than only a religious audience. The lessons explore practical issues such as: * Family and relationships * Marriage and parenting * Wisdom and decision-making * Personal responsibility * Character and morality * Conflict and communication * Human behaviour * Emotional struggles * Purpose and meaning * Faith and spirituality * Difficult questions about everyday life Our goal is to make these lessons relevant and accessible to anyone facing the issues being discussed, regardless of their religious background. The lessons are usually presented in both English and Mandarin Chinese, so strong understanding of both languages is essential. About the Role This is more than a technical video-editing role. We need someone who can review a long bilingual lesson, understand the key ideas, identify the sections that are most relevant to a general audience, and recommend how the material should be developed into effective online content. Our preferred content approach is: Everyday human question or struggle → practical insight → deeper biblical or Jewish foundation The producer should help make the lessons understandable to viewers who may not already be familiar with religious language. Source Material Each weekly raw lesson may be approximately two to three hours long and may move between English and Mandarin Chinese. The producer should be able to: * Review long-form bilingual recordings * Identify the main themes and strongest sections * Recognise topics that can stand alone as separate videos * Suggest useful titles, hooks and audience angles * Remove material that is repetitive, unclear or unsuitable for publication * Preserve the original meaning of the teaching * Recommend how the content should be organised and published This role requires strong editorial judgment, not only technical editing ability. Main Responsibilities Depending on the agreed scope, responsibilities may include: * Reviewing raw bilingual lesson recordings * Preparing a simple content plan * Editing standalone long-form YouTube videos * Producing Shorts, Reels and other vertical videos * Adding accurate English and Chinese subtitles * Creating thumbnails and supporting graphics * Writing titles, descriptions and YouTube chapters * Uploading and scheduling approved content * Suggesting content series, playlists and publishing order * Reviewing basic performance data and recommending improvements We are looking for someone who can provide creative and editorial advice, not only wait for detailed editing instructions. Editorial Approach The content may discuss the Bible, Judaism, God, faith, spirituality and morality, but it should not be packaged only for an existing religious audience. The producer should be able to identify the wider human issue behind each lesson. Possible public-facing topics may include: * Why intelligent people still make unwise decisions * Why people regret consequences but not their actions * How past pain affects present judgment * Why parents and children misunderstand one another * Why people avoid responsibility * What makes a person trustworthy * Why people repeat destructive patterns * Why knowing what is right does not always lead to doing what is right The final content must remain faithful to the original lesson and must not misrepresent the speaker’s intended meaning. Language Requirements The successful freelancer must: * Be fluent in spoken and written English * Be fluent in spoken and written Mandarin Chinese * Understand natural Singaporean English and Mandarin * Be able to follow lessons that move between both languages * Be able to identify and correct subtitle or transcription errors * Be able to write natural titles and captions in English and Chinese * Personally verify bilingual content rather than relying entirely on automated translation AI and editing tools may be used to support the workflow, but the freelancer must personally understand both languages. Location Requirement The freelancer must currently be based in Singapore. This is important because our content uses natural Singaporean English and Mandarin and may include local expressions and cultural references. Initial Paid Trial We will begin with a paid trial using one recorded bilingual lesson of approximately two to three hours. The trial budget is US$300–US$500 fixed price. Applicants should propose a realistic trial package within this budget. Your proposal should clearly explain: * How much of the full lesson you will review * What content plan or recommendations you will provide * The number and approximate length of videos you will produce * Whether bilingual subtitles are included * Whether thumbnails, titles and descriptions are included * Your expected turnaround time * Your total fixed-price quote At minimum, the trial should demonstrate your ability to: * Understand the lesson in English and Mandarin Chinese * Identify the strongest audience-facing ideas * Turn one section into a polished standalone video * Create at least one effective short-form video * Suggest how the remaining lesson could be developed into additional content The full two-to-three-hour lesson does not need to be completely edited during the trial. A strong trial proposal may include: * A short content breakdown * Two to four recommended audience-facing topics * One standalone long-form video * One or two short-form vertical videos * Accurate bilingual subtitles * One thumbnail concept * Suggested titles and opening hooks * Recommendations for how the remaining lesson could be developed Applicants may propose a different combination of deliverables, provided the total price does not exceed US$500. Please provide a clear breakdown of your proposed deliverables and fixed-price quote in your application. Trial Evaluation We will assess: * Understanding of English and Mandarin Chinese * Ability to identify the main message * Ability to connect the lesson to a general audience * Editorial judgment * Faithfulness to the original meaning * Storytelling and pacing * Subtitle accuracy * Technical editing quality * Thumbnail and title judgment * Creativity and strategic thinking * Ability to work independently * Value and clarity of the proposed package Strong performance may lead to an ongoing freelance or monthly retainer arrangement. Potential Ongoing Scope After the trial, the ongoing monthly scope may include: * Review of four weekly bilingual recordings * Four simple content plans * Approximately four to eight standalone long-form videos * Approximately eight to twelve short-form videos * Thumbnails and bilingual subtitles * Titles, descriptions and YouTube chapters * Uploading and scheduling * One monthly content and performance review The final scope and fee will be discussed after the trial based on the actual workload, editing complexity and quality of the collaboration. Ideal Candidate The ideal freelancer: * Is currently based in Singapore * Is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese * Has experience editing long-form and short-form YouTube content * Has strong storytelling and content-structuring ability * Can identify compelling ideas from lengthy discussions * Can simplify deep ideas without making them shallow * Understands titles, thumbnails and audience retention * Can work independently * Is comfortable handling content involving faith, morality, philosophy and everyday-life issues * Is interested in a long-term creative partnership Experience with educational content, podcasts, interviews, lectures, talking-head videos, philosophy, psychology, bilingual media or faith-based content would be beneficial.
