Summary

Software Project Manager / Customer Success Manager Location: This is a fully remote contract role. Optional: If the freelancer happens to be local to the Chicago area and prefers occasional in-person collaboration, we’re open to that — but it is not required. ---------------------- Summary We’re looking for a client-facing Software Project Manager / Customer Success professional who is passionate about customer retention, expansion, and long-term relationship building. This role owns the customer experience from implementation through adoption—ensuring customers are successful, engaged, and growing with us over time. You’ll sit at the intersection of delivery, customer success, and account growth. ---------------------- What You’ll Do Lead software implementations from kickoff through go-live, delivering projects on time and with high quality Run customer status calls; manage timelines, risks, dependencies, and expectations Communicate confidently with stakeholders at all levels, tailoring messaging to technical and non-technical audiences Translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical language customers understand Build trusted customer relationships focused on retention, satisfaction, and advocacy Proactively identify and support expansion opportunities (upsells, cross-sells, additional modules, partnerships) Create positive customer moments that drive reviews, referrals, and word-of-mouth growth Partner closely with product and delivery teams to ensure work is tested, complete, and production-ready ---------------------- What We’re Looking For Experience in software project management, customer success, or software implementations Strong focus on customer retention and account expansion Salesforce ecosystem experience and implementation experience Salesforce-native or Salesforce-integrated SaaS projects Polished communicator in corporate, client-facing environments Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable leading conversations Bonus: Experience with HR software or Field Service software This is both a technical and a relationship-driven role—empathy, clarity, and business awareness are essential.
