Solution / Functional Architect

Description: The Solution / Functional Architect serves as the vital bridge between business requirements and technical design. In this role, you will translate complex business processes, user needs, and product visions into clear, high-quality functional and technical specifications that developers and DevOps teams can seamlessly build upon. Your mission is to ensure that what gets built actually solves the right problem—optimizing the alignment between business logic and modern technical architecture before a single line of code is written. Key Responsibilities: 1. Functional Design & Business Analysis: Process Modeling: Conduct deep business process analysis and model current/target state workflows using BPMN and functional data models. Requirements Engineering: Translate high-level business requirements into detailed functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Documentation: Produce and maintain the functional reference model and architecture documentation (process maps, data flow diagrams, business rules, and edge cases). Traceability: Manage end-to-end functional traceability from the initial business need down to the delivered software feature. 2. Architecture, Data Modeling & API Specifications: Modern Architecture Alignment: Ensure functional designs are optimized for Microservice architectures and Event-Driven Architecture (EDA). Data Modeling: Actively work on the definition, normalization, and evolution of the functional data model. API Design: Define and document precise API specifications, choosing the right protocol for the job (REST, GraphQL, and Async / AsyncAPI for event-driven systems). 3. Collaboration & Governance: Stakeholder Facilitation: Lead functional workshops with internal and external stakeholders; translate executive strategic vision into scalable functional models. Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate closely with Product Owners, CTO, Developers, and DevOps to ensure the product backlog reflects functional reality and technical feasibility. Quality & Validation: Work with development squads to validate that technical designs satisfy functional requirements; participate in sprint reviews and lead functional UAT to identify gaps. Standardization: Drive functional standardization across multiple squads and contribute strategic insights to the product roadmap. Profile & Key Skills: Technical & Architectural Skills Strong understanding of Microservice Architecture and Event-Driven Architecture (EDA). Hands-on experience designing and documenting APIs (REST, GraphQL, Async). Solid experience in Functional Data Modeling and relational/non-relational data concepts. Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) concepts and SaaS product environments. Functional & Methodological Skills Expertise in Business Process Modeling (BPMN), UML, and requirements engineering. Strong capability in writing clear, unambiguous user stories and functional specifications. Experience mapping out business rules, validation logic, and complex edge cases. Soft Skills & Experience: Excellent communication and stakeholder facilitation skills (ability to talk strategy with executives and implementation details with developers). Strong analytical mindset with a sharp eye for consistency and system dependencies. Proven experience working within Agile/Scrum frameworks alongside Product Owners and engineering squads.
