Sound designer wanted for our first short film — creative freedom

Hey, my name is Max. I'm an aspiring filmmaker. I mainly make corporate stuff and branded content — I've done some nice creative commercials in the past, fashion projects and some documentaries — but what I really want is to transition into fiction. So I met up with one of my best friends, who's a professional actor, and we made our own short film. I learned a huge amount from it, including exactly which aspects I'm not good at. That's why I'm here. We shot it on a Sony FX6 in ProRes HQ and I edited it myself. For sound, another friend of ours is a professional sound artist, so we went in and re-recorded a lot of material the screaming, the impacts, my own lines. We've got a decent library of it. But every time we try to lay it in, it sounds fake. Getting recorded material to actually sit in a scene is clearly its own craft, and it's not one I have. So I'm looking for a sound designer who does. On top of the foley, I'd love to bring in more designed elements like risers, whooshes, drop impacts, the things that give a cut some weight and tension. Right now the film is dry and it shows. One thing to flag: we're doing a small reshoot of the opening. At the moment the flow breaks between the cyclist and the car, so we're going back to redo the buildup, bike getting loaded onto the vehicle, both of them driving, the two of them converging. That'll change the pacing of the first minute or so. Everything after that is locked. We loved making this, and we're already working on the next one. The goal is to build a body of short films strong enough to get producers interested in a pilot, and eventually funding from the Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF) here in Belgium, the government fund that supports new talent and backs series and features. We understand how that process works. So the plan is: make the shorts, build the crew, write a strong screenplay, and then walk in with proof rather than promises. And when that happens, we'll already have our people, our family, our workflow and we can offer something real to whoever backs us.
