Spanish Editorial Content Writing
Worldwide
I'm the founder of a premium real estate discovery platform launching in Costa Rica. The product is English first, but our Spanish presence will be built as native Spanish content, not translation. That starts now, with brand language. I'm looking for a native Costa Rican Spanish writer and editor. Not a translator. Someone who can take English brand lines, slogans, and creative copy and recreate them so they feel like they were written in Spanish first, by someone who lives here, for people who live here or are moving here. **The immediate work (Phase 1):** - Transcreation of brand slogans, taglines, and key marketing lines - Advising on tone, register, and word choice for the Costa Rican and wider Latin American market (including the usted vs. tu question for our audience) - Flagging anything in our English brand language that does not travel well culturally **What this can grow into (Phase 2, for the right person):** - Native Spanish place guides and area content for regions across Costa Rica (Guanacaste, Central Pacific, Central Valley, Southern Zone) - Spanish onboarding and support copy for local agents, developers, and sellers - Ownership of our Spanish editorial voice as the platform grows **You are a strong fit if you:** - Are a native Costa Rican Spanish speaker, ideally born and raised in Costa Rica, with excellent professional English - Know the country's regions firsthand and how locals actually talk about them - Understand Costa Rican property vocabulary: lote, finca, condominio, apartamento, concesión, zona marítimo terrestre, plano catastrado - Have professional writing, copywriting, editorial, or transcreation experience (marketing or real estate a plus) - Understand that words people actually search for matter more than technically correct words **Not a fit:** - Machine translation or AI-assisted translation workflows - Generic Latin American Spanish without Costa Rican grounding - Word for word translation. If your instinct is fidelity to the English sentence rather than to the Spanish reader, this is not the role. **To apply, please answer:** 1. Where in Costa Rica are you from, and which regions do you know well? 2. Give one example of an English marketing phrase that translates badly into Costa Rican Spanish, and how you would handle it. 3. In one or two sentences: what is the difference between translation and transcreation? Phase 1 is a small, well defined starting engagement. If it goes well, this becomes ongoing editorial work on a growing platform.
