Location: Lima, Peru (Surco) Employer: Global Security Services (GSS), U.S.-based SDVOSB Contract Type: Full-time, Contract (U.S. Embassy Lima) Start Date: Pending security vetting (approx. 25 days) Compensation: Competitive; based on experience and qualifications About the Role Global Security Services (GSS) is seeking highly qualified Spanish Language Instructors to support a U.S. Embassy foreign language training program in Lima, Peru. Instructors will deliver individual and small-group Spanish instruction to adult learners ranging from beginner to advanced proficiency. Instruction will be delivered in-person at the U.S. Embassy in Surco and/or virtually using Embassy-approved platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams). This position requires a dynamic, communicative teaching style, strong familiarity with proficiency-based language instruction, and the ability to tailor lessons to professional, diplomatic, and job‑specific needs. Key Responsibilities Deliver high‑engagement, communicative Spanish instruction to adult learners (individual and groups up to six students). Conduct initial assessments to determine learner proficiency, strengths, weaknesses, and goals. Develop structured lesson plans aligned with NFATC, ACTFL, ILR, CEFR, or DLI methodologies. Provide periodic evaluations every 4–6 weeks, including documented feedback and progress reports. Administer approved proficiency tests (NFATC, ACTFL, ILR, MLA, DLI, or similar). Provide biweekly progress documentation and weekly counseling for students needing additional support. Ensure full and efficient use of class time, starting and ending sessions promptly. Incorporate Peruvian cultural, political, economic, and real‑world context into instruction. Deliver specialized modules as needed (e.g., Business Spanish, Diplomatic Spanish, Legal Spanish, Medical Spanish). Coordinate scheduling and attendance tracking with GSS and Embassy personnel. Maintain professional conduct and comply with Embassy security and access requirements. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Education, Linguistics, Spanish Language, or related field. Minimum 3 years of experience teaching Spanish to adult learners. Demonstrated proficiency in communicative and proficiency-based teaching methods. Experience teaching mixed-level groups and adapting instruction in real time. Familiarity with NFATC, ACTFL, ILR, CEFR, or DLI language proficiency frameworks. Strong ability to teach job‑relevant vocabulary and professional Spanish. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work onsite at the U.S. Embassy in Surco (for in-person roles). Ability to pass Embassy background checks (approx. 25 days; no cost to candidate). Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching diplomats, government personnel, or international professionals. Experience with Computerized Adaptive Testing or standardized proficiency exams. Experience delivering virtual instruction using Microsoft Teams or similar platforms. Experience developing specialized Spanish modules (business, legal, medical, diplomatic). Familiarity with Peruvian cultural, political, and economic topics. Schedule Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Saturdays: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM Actual teaching hours vary based on student schedules.
