Embedded Hardware Engineer – LTE-M GPS Wearable Prototype Development Project Overview We are developing a Special Needs wearable Personal Safety & Awareness Platform that integrates directly into a custom shoelace assembly (Patented). The device is intended for adolescents and adults and combines LTE-M connectivity, GNSS positioning, motion sensing, and low-power battery operation within a compact enclosure. We are seeking an experienced Embedded Hardware Engineer to help validate our initial component stack concept. This engagement is focused exclusively on the electronics architecture, PCB insight, component selection, and prototype concept evaluation. Project Goals: Validate current component stack and provide written audit of challenges/issues. The electronics package must fit within a compact wearable enclosure measurements we will advise on. Current target architecture includes: Cellular Connectivity Würth Adrastea-I (Sony ALT1250 based) OR equivalent LTE-M Alternative recommendations welcomed GNSS u-blox MIA-M10 or equivalent Motion Detection ST LIS2DW12 or equivalent Connectivity Bluetooth Low Energy Power System Single-cell LiPo battery Magnetic charging interface Ultra-low-power operation Scope of Work Phase 1 – Architecture Review Review existing product requirements Validate component selections Recommend architecture improvements Review power budget assumptions Evaluate battery life targets Successful completion will include: Written audit of existing component stack including challenges and issues in conceptual design. Candidates must demonstrate experience with: LTE-M NB-IoT GNSS / GPS Embedded hardware development PCB design Battery-powered devices Low-power systems Firmware bring-up Wearables or compact IoT products Preferred Experience Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in: LTE-M OEM u-blox GNSS products Asset tracking products Personal safety devices Wearables FCC/PTCRB preparation Prototype-to-production product development Preference will be given to candidates who can provide (in the future): Architecture review Design services Prototype support Ongoing consulting through functional prototype completion This is intended to be the first step toward a larger product development effort and may lead to additional phases of work.
