In short, our company provides a service with it’s own pricing model and has built a Saas platform that can Today, most business owners piece together strategy from disconnected providers — bookkeepers, tax accountants, banks, attorneys, online communities — none of whom are close enough to day-to-day operations to really understand the business. That leads to poor visibility, missed insights, and persistent cash flow issues. We fix that with our Saas + management consulting + advisory model. The Saas (Heavy-Duty OS) provides shop management + cash flow insights and the advisory/service side of the business provides the operational support that our clients need to actually build a cash flowing business with real exit potential. This is a ground-floor opportunity to build the accounting function at a fast-growing startup — working directly with the founder, embedded with clients, from day one. What You'll Do Bridge accounting and operations. Merge traditional accounting and controller-level processes with the broader Heavy-Duty OS system — the workflows that run a profitable diesel shop from work order all the way to cash in the bank. Own client accounting delivery. Manage the full accounting cycle — books, close, reconciliations, financial statements — for a portfolio of industrial and heavy-duty service clients, in QuickBooks Online, with a standard of accuracy and speed that matches a white-glove advisory relationship, not a back-office bookkeeping shop. Build financial models clients and lenders actually use. Develop 13-week cash flow forecasts, break-even analysis, and AR/AP and daily cash reporting — plus investor- and lender-ready pro formas and capital packages to support clients through fundraising and debt financing, working directly with owners through the process. Shape Heavy-Duty OS, hand-in-hand with the founder. Work directly with the founder to establish the SOPs and frameworks behind Heavy-Duty OS — connecting day-to-day operational activity (work orders, jobs, parts, labor) to financial performance, spotting cash leaks early, and building the fixes. Build the team. Work with the founder to hire, train, and manage accounting staff as our client base grows. Develop the standards and systems this function will run on. Embed with our largest clients. Work directly inside our biggest client accounts to establish SOPs for keeping their books clean, current, and decision-useful — not just compliant. Lead cleanup projects. Take on prior-year cleanup work to get client books caught up and audit-ready as a foundation for ongoing accounting. Get in the weeds. Roll up your sleeves on AP, AR, payroll support, month-end close, and client questions — especially early on, before the team is built out. No task is beneath the role. Partner with clients directly. Sit with business owners and their teams, understand their operations, and be a trusted point of contact for their financial questions — not a name on an email signature. Improve the system. Work closely with our product and operations teams to flag gaps, suggest improvements, and help shape how Heavy-Duty OS handles accounting workflows. Support the broader advisory model. Collaborate with the finance, legal, HR, and operations specialists on the team to give clients coordinated, not fragmented, advice. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. 3–5 years of progressive experience in accounting, FP&A, or controllership — public accounting, industry/operator experience, or a mix of both is a plus. Demonstrated ability to build financial models — cash flow forecasts, pro formas, capital-raise packages — and to communicate them clearly to owners, lenders, and investors. CPA a plus, not required. What matters is the ability to run a full accounting cycle independently and think like a controller, not the credential. Knowledge and Skills Proven ability to manage a full accounting cycle independently — you don't need someone checking your work. Fluent in QuickBooks Online; comfortable with (or eager to learn) modern accounting and finance tech stacks, including our Heavy-Duty OS platform. A builder's mindset — you want to shape a function from the ground up, not step into a fully-formed one. Strong communicator who's genuinely great with people — comfortable in front of clients and lenders, not just behind a spreadsheet.
