Subject Matter Expert – Fund Accounting Systems Testing

We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Fund Accounting and Reporting for a specialized contract role. You will not write code; instead, you will serve as the functional authority to test, validate, and suggest improvements on our newly developed automated fund accounting tools. The ideal candidate has an extensive background in fund operations and leverages this expertise to design complex financial test scenarios, ensuring the software operates with absolute accuracy. The specialization must have include Real Estate and PE “Consolidation, CoA Normalization, Waterfall, NAV package preparation, Contribution/Distribution notices” and additional advantage if the candidate has experience in “CAM reconciliation and Lease accounting” Key Responsibilities • Functional Testing: Design and execute comprehensive test scenarios based on real-world fund accounting workflows. • Data Validation: Perform deep-dive financial reconciliations to verify automated calculations, including Net Asset Value (NAV), trial balances, fee structures, distributions and promotes. • Reporting Verification: Review and assist to sign off on automated regulatory and investor reports. • User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Work with team on the UAT phase, defining acceptance criteria and ensuring the tool meets institutional operational standards. • Defect Analysis: Identify systemic calculation errors, explain the underlying accounting logic to technical teams, and guide necessary fixes. • Risk Mitigation: Evaluate the automated tool's output to identify potential operational, financial, or regulatory compliance risks. Required Knowledge and Experience • Fund Operations Expertise: Minimum 7–10 years of hands-on experience in fund accounting, asset management, or fund administration. • Technical Accounting: Advanced knowledge of NAV production, general ledgers, multi-currency accounting, and complex financial instruments. • System Testing Experience: Proven track record of participating in UAT, system migrations, or validating automated financial software. • Data Analysis Tools: Proficiency with Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) and AI tools to extract and analyze large financial datasets during verification. • Interpreting contracts and regulatory reporting: Strong understanding of current global financial reporting standards and regulatory requirements.
