About the Company Skrib (skrib.com) is a writing studio where writers plan, research, and write in one space. One tab holds the Draft (where the words go), the Plan (an open canvas for organizing the story), a Library (everything you have ever brought in), and a Companion that knows your work and suggests, never ghostwrites. We are in early access with a waitlist, and writers who join now are shaping the product. We are now creating our own home on Reddit: an official Skrib subreddit that becomes the place where our writers hang out, share their work and workflows, get early access news first, and pull new writers in. We need someone to build it from zero. Important framing: Skrib is a writing studio, not an AI tool. If your instinct is to market us as an AI product, this job is not for you. The Role You will own the Skrib subreddit end to end: set it up, seed it, program it, moderate it, and grow it into an active community of writers. This is a builder role, not a posting gig. You will be judged on whether real writers show up, post, come back, and bring friends. What You Will Do • Foundation. Set up the subreddit properly: rules, post flairs, welcome post, wiki, visual identity (brand assets provided), automod configuration, and moderation guidelines. • Programming. Design and run a weekly content calendar: recurring threads (critique threads, workflow shares, accountability check-ins, weekly wins), original posts, and event formats such as writing sprints and AMAs with the Skrib team. • Seeding. Seed the community in the early weeks so it never feels empty: quality starter posts, thoughtful comments, and fast replies to every new member. • Growth. Grow membership through Reddit-native tactics: cross-community participation that respects other subreddits’ rules, collaborations, and converting Skrib’s waitlist and early-access writers into subreddit members. • Moderation. Moderate daily: approve posts, handle spam, enforce rules, and keep the tone welcoming for writers who are skeptical of tools and allergic to corporate language. • Reporting. Track members, daily active participation, posts, comments, and top threads in a weekly reporting sheet (template provided), and join periodic screen-sharing calls with our manager to review the numbers together. Compensation Monthly retainer. Propose your monthly rate and state clearly what it covers (hours per week, deliverables, availability). We will agree on a fixed scope before starting. The first month is a paid trial period with clear targets. To Apply: Read This Carefully Do not send a generic proposal. We will ignore it. Your proposal must include the following three sections, and their quality is the single most important factor in our decision. 1. Your understanding of Skrib. Show us you understand what Skrib is, who it is for, and why writing communities on Reddit are skeptical of promotion. Two or three paragraphs, in your own words, based on skrib.com and anything else you can find. If you describe Skrib as an AI writing tool, we will stop reading. 2. Community and engagement strategy. How you would structure r/Skrib: the rules and flairs you would set, the recurring threads and events you would run in the first 90 days, how you would keep the subreddit alive in the awkward early phase when it has 50 members, and how you would make writers feel this is their place rather than a brand channel. 3. Growth strategy. How you get from 0 to an active community: concrete acquisition channels (within Reddit and from our waitlist), realistic member and activity milestones for months 1 to 3, and how you would use Skrib’s waitlist and early-access exclusivity as a growth lever. Give us numbers you are prepared to be held to. Also include: • Your Reddit username, so we can review your history and the communities you actually participate in. • Links to any subreddit or online community you have built or moderated, with the state it was in when you started and where you took it. If you have never done this before, tell us honestly why you would be good at it. Requirements • Proven experience building or moderating an online community, ideally a subreddit. You know Reddit’s culture, its spam filters, and why communities die. • You must read and fully internalize our Reddit Engagement Guide and Brand Language Agreement before starting. Every post must follow the approved positioning: Skrib is a writing studio, the Companion suggests and the writer decides, and we never lead with AI. • All writing must be done by a real person. AI-generated posts and comments are strictly prohibited. We will check, and detected AI-written content ends the contract immediately. • An existing Reddit account with real karma and history. • Strong English writing skills. Our community is full of professional writers; sloppy grammar gets you (and us) dismissed instantly. • Weekly reporting and availability for a verification call with screen sharing within 48 hours of a request. This is not optional. What We Provide • The Skrib Reddit Engagement Guide: approved language, prohibited phrases, tone guidelines, example posts and comments, and competitive positioning. • Brand assets for the subreddit (icon, banner, wordmark) and access to the Skrib team for AMAs, event prizes, and early-access invite codes for community members. • Full early access to Skrib, so you know the studio you are building a community around. • A weekly reporting template and direct access to the team for questions about positioning, features, or edge cases. What Success Looks Like By the end of month three: an active subreddit where writers post without being prompted, recurring threads that members run themselves, steady week-over-week member growth, and a community our team is proud to point new writers to. Exact targets will be agreed with you based on the growth strategy you propose.
