U.S. Tax Reviewer (CPA / EA) — Check AI-Generated Tax Answers for Accuracy

Posted 3 weeks ago

Summary

We're an early-stage software company building an AI assistant for small accounting firms. Our rule is simple: nothing reaches a client until a licensed professional reviews it. We're looking for an experienced U.S. tax reviewer to pressure-test our AI's output and tell us where it's wrong. What you'll do Review AI-generated tax Q&A (individual + small-business) for technical accuracy Verify that citations to the IRC, Treasury regs, and IRS guidance actually support the answer Review "tax law change" findings — check the rule, whether it applies to the client, and the dollar-impact math Flag errors, overstatements, and anything a reviewer at a real firm would push back on Give a clear verdict per item — correct / needs correction / wrong — with a one-or-two-line rationale You're a fit if you Hold a U.S. CPA or EA — or are a Chartered Accountant with demonstrable U.S. tax specialization Have sat in a review/sign-off seat on U.S. returns, not only prepared them Work comfortably from primary sources (IRC, regs, IRS pubs/notices), not just software output Can explain why an answer is wrong, not just that it is Have strong written English and a few hours of U.S. time-zone overlap Nice to have: small-firm busy-season prep/review experience, familiarity with tax research tools, comfort working in spreadsheets/structured rubrics. Engagement: Hourly, part-time, ongoing. We'll start with a short paid trial batch (~2–3 hrs) to calibrate. Your verdicts are spot-checked against our lead reviewer, so consistency matters as much as raw knowledge. To apply: In under 150 words, tell us about your U.S. tax review experience and answer this: A client sold their primary residence for a $200K gain. They'd owned and lived in it for 18 months and are not selling due to a job change, health, or other hardship. How much of the gain can they exclude under §121, and why?
