Job Overview We are looking for an experienced U.S. Tax Subject Matter Expert (CPA, Enrolled Agent, or Senior Tax Professional) to support a tax process design and AI-driven tax automation project. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience preparing and reviewing U.S. Individual Income Tax Returns (Form 1040) across multiple tax years (2019–Current). This role involves designing tax workflows, creating documentation, validating tax logic, and providing expert guidance to cross-functional teams. Responsibilities - Serve as the primary SME for U.S. Individual Income Tax (Form 1040). - Interpret and apply IRS tax law changes from Tax Year 2019 through the current tax year. - Design complete taxpayer onboarding and tax preparation workflows. - Develop tax questionnaires, document request lists, SOPs, checklists, and validation rules. - Review tax calculations and ensure compliance with federal and state tax regulations. - Create quality assurance processes and review standards. - Support AI/data annotation initiatives by validating tax scenarios and documentation. - Collaborate with Operations, Product, Engineering, and QA teams. - Provide technical guidance and answer complex tax-related questions. Required Qualifications - CPA, Enrolled Agent (EA), or equivalent U.S. tax expertise. - 6+ years of hands-on experience preparing and reviewing U.S. Individual Tax Returns (Form 1040). - Strong knowledge of Tax Years 2019–Current. - Deep expertise in: - Filing Statuses - Dependents - W-2, 1099 Series, K-1 - Schedule A, B, C, D, E & SE - Capital Gains - Self-Employment Tax - Retirement Distributions - Education Credits - Child Tax Credit - Earned Income Tax Credit - Estimated Taxes - Multi-State Taxation - Electronic Filing Requirements State Tax Experience - California - New York - Illinois - Texas - Florida (Understanding of no state income tax and residency implications) Preferred Experience - Experience using tax software such as UltraTax, ProSeries, Lacerte, Drake, CCH Axcess, or GoSystem. - Experience creating tax documentation, SOPs, knowledge bases, or automation rules. - Previous involvement in AI, machine learning, or tax data annotation projects is a strong plus.
