Tech Lead / Mobile Developer — Home Care Management Platform Project type: Long-term, multi-phase Engagement: Contract, ongoing Hours: Full-time or near full-time Start date: Within 2–4 weeks Location: Remote (US time zone overlap preferred) About the Project We're building Anaya Care, a mobile-first home care management platform that connects care organizations with caregivers, families, and care coordinators. The platform handles scheduling, care plans, shift documentation, family communication, and care quality coordination. Phase 1 of the platform is live in production and currently being used by an anchor subscriber for real-world testing. The product is governed by a comprehensive PRD covering 46 feature modules across three release phases. We're transitioning from our current development team to a new contractor team and need a senior technical lead to anchor that transition. A Note on the Codebase Anaya Care has been in active development for over a year. Phase 1 is live in the App Store with our anchor subscriber actively testing. We're now transitioning from our original development team to a new contractor team — meaning the new hires will be inheriting an existing codebase rather than building from scratch. This means: • The product is real, with real users, and real production constraints • The new team's first work is understanding the existing code, documentation, and architectural decisions • Some technical debt and undocumented decisions exist; addressing them is part of the work • We have a comprehensive PRD (v4.2) and a Developer Reference document, but the codebase itself will have gaps the new team helps close If you enjoy stabilizing and extending existing codebases — bringing structure, documentation, and quality discipline to inherited work — this project will fit you well. If you prefer greenfield projects with no constraints, this probably isn't the right fit. What the Role Involves The Tech Lead is the most senior technical role on the project. Two responsibilities: 1. Hands-on mobile development. You build features alongside the team — not just direct from a distance. 2. Day-to-day technical coordination. You translate product priorities from the Product Owner into executable work, set technical direction, and own the technical health of the codebase. Specific responsibilities: • Lead mobile development (iOS and Android — likely React Native, to be confirmed) • Coordinate with the Full-Stack Developer on backend/frontend integration • Coordinate with the part-time QA Tester on release readiness • Review code from other contractors • Maintain technical documentation • Make architectural decisions in consultation with the Product Owner • Translate the PRD into sprint-level work for the team • Be the team's escalation point for technical blockers Required Skills • 7+ years software development experience, with at least 4 years in mobile • Strong mobile development expertise — React Native preferred, native iOS/Android acceptable • Experience leading small contractor teams (2–4 people) • Experience working from comprehensive product specifications (we have a 4.2-version PRD) • Strong code review discipline • Production deployment experience — App Store, Google Play, mobile DevOps • Backend integration experience — calling REST APIs from mobile, handling auth tokens, managing state • Strong communication skills — you'll be in weekly syncs with the Product Owner and async with the team Preferred Skills • Healthcare or compliance-adjacent experience (HIPAA-aligned architectures, audit logging, role-based access) • Experience inheriting an existing codebase and stabilizing it during a team transition • Experience with EVV (Electronic Visit Verification) or similar location/time verification systems • B2B SaaS or multi-tenant SaaS experience • Experience with structured product documentation (PRDs, technical specs, acceptance criteria) What You Won't Be Doing • This is not a greenfield project. We have a live product with real users. • This is not a research role. We're shipping features, not exploring possibilities. • This is not a CTO/architect-only role. You're hands-on, not just directing. What's Already in Place • Live production product with an anchor subscriber actively testing • Comprehensive PRD (version 4.2, 46 feature modules) • Developer Reference document for technical handover from the current team • UI/UX designer already in place (full-time, working in parallel) • Product Owner (founder) deeply involved in product direction • Documented onboarding path for new team members You will be joining alongside a Full-Stack Developer and a part-time QA Tester (both being hired separately).
