Technical Auditor for IoT Project Review
Worldwide
We are seeking a Technical Auditor or Senior IoT Engineer to review reference design and firmware deliverables for an IoT project. The role involves assessing the technical quality and compliance of the deliverables against the project requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience in firmware and hardware design, and be able to provide constructive feedback to improve the project outcomes. This is a short-term contract lasting 3-4 hours. Job Description: We are seeking an experienced IoT Systems Architect, Embedded Electronics Engineer, or Electro-Mechanical Product Designer to conduct a standard 48-hour compliance audit on a suite of reverse-engineered reference design files. An engineering consultancy is currently completing a teardown and optimization project on an electro-mechanical, WiFi-enabled safety appliance. Before we release the final milestone payment, we require an independent, expert engineering eye to verify that the deliverables are complete, uncorrupted, and perfectly match our contractual Statement of Work (SOW). This is a pure advisory/consultancy role requiring approximately 3 to 4 hours of total work, handled entirely under a standard Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Your Tasks: You will be given view-only access to our secure data room to cross-reference the firm’s deliverables against our SOW checklist. You will provide a brief bulleted report confirming if the following assets are present and correctly formatted: 1. Mechanical CAD Review: Verify that the 3D STEP files show functional internal fluid/gas distribution routing for dual-state mechanics (localized enclosure flooding vs. external bypass routing). Confirm that high-volume manufacturing practices (1–2° draft angles for injection moulding) have been applied. 2. Electronics & BOM Audit: Audit the hierarchical BOM spreadsheet. Verify that the components (Microcontroller, VOC air quality sensors, motor drivers) contain valid, active Manufacturer Part Numbers (MPNs) rather than generic place-holders. Verify that the bare PCB Gerber files are present and complete. 3. API & Firmware Verification: Confirm that the pre-compiled firmware binary file (.bin) is present. Review the API documentation to ensure the JSON/MQTT data payload schemas clearly map out critical device variables (sensor telemetry, motor states, and full vs. empty canister detection logic). Required Qualifications: • 10+ years of experience in electro-mechanical product design, embedded systems, or hardware-to-cloud IoT architecture. • Complete fluency in reading 3D CAD (STEP/IGES), PCB layouts (Gerber files), and firmware structures. • Impeccable professional English and the ability to summarize complex engineering omissions into simple, actionable feedback. Please outline your direct experience with high-volume IoT appliances when applying. A standard NDA must be executed before project files are shared.
