Technical Designer for Men's Wear

Job Title: Senior Freelance Technical Designer – Men's Tailoring/Suiting (Occasional, U.S. Travel) Category: Fashion Design / Apparel & Product Development Project Description: We're seeking an experienced Technical Designer to work with us on a freelance, as-needed basis. This isn't a full-time role — we need someone senior who can work independently between engagements and travel occasionally within the U.S. to join our team in person for key fittings, sample reviews, or milestones. Responsibilities: Build and maintain tech packs for men's tailored clothing (suits, blazers, trousers, dress shirts) Lead fit sessions and proto/sample reviews with detailed fit notes and spec revisions Communicate pattern and construction changes clearly to pattern makers and vendors (including overseas factories) Maintain block libraries, grade rules, and points of measurement Travel periodically (within the U.S.) for in-person fittings or team collaboration Requirements: 8+ years of technical design experience, with strong expertise specifically in men's tailoring/suiting construction and fit Proficiency with PDM systems (WebPDM, Gerber Accumark, or similar), Illustrator, and Excel Able to work independently with minimal onboarding each engagement Based anywhere in the U.S.; must be willing and able to travel occasionally Nice to have: experience in women's athleisure/activewear technical design Engagement Type: Freelance / project-based, ongoing occasional work Location: Remote (U.S.-based), with periodic travel required Estimated Budget: $60–$95/hr, depending on experience (or open to proposals — flexible on rate for the right fit)
