Technical Founding Engineer for AI Tutoring Product

## San Francisco-based | Remote Ok | Full-Time | AI x Education We're a prominent venture studio based in San Francisco with funding and a track record of building venture-scale technology companies. Our newest thesis is focused on education. AI is fundamentally changing how students learn, creating an opportunity to build the next generation of tutoring, test prep, and personalized learning. We believe this is one of the largest AI opportunities in consumer technology. We've already built and launched the initial product, have active users, and are seeing early traction. You'll be joining at a pivotal stage to shape the product, accelerate growth, and help build the company from here. You would be working closely with the business founder on the project, she has been working on the company for a few months. We'll begin by working together over a short trial period to ensure there's strong mutual fit, with the goal of transitioning into a full-time founding role. ## The Opportunity We're building an AI-native platform focused on: * AI tutoring * Test prep (SAT, ACT, AP) * Personalized learning * Intelligent study assistants * Tools that help students achieve better outcomes This is an opportunity to build a product that could impact millions of students while defining a new category in education. ## Who You Are You're an exceptional all-around founding engineer. You have outstanding product taste, strong design instincts, and can build across the entire stack. You enjoy sweating the details and care about creating products that feel polished, intuitive, and delightful to use. You use AI to move faster, not to lower the bar. You know how to leverage the latest AI tools while avoiding AI slop. You care about clean architecture, thoughtful product decisions, and high-quality user experiences. You move quickly, thrive in ambiguity, and know when to optimize for speed versus perfection. You're equally comfortable talking to users, shipping features, making product decisions, and solving hard technical problems. Most importantly, you have a founder mentality.
