Technical & On-Page SEO Specialist — WordPress (+ AI Search / GEO)
Worldwide
We're a small US marketing agency hiring a hands-on technical SEO specialist to execute a well-defined 90-day plan for one of our clients: an established emergency home-services company in the Seattle metro (WordPress + Rank Math, ~230 pages). We've completed a full audit with Search Console, GA4, and crawl data — you'll get the findings, the target lists, and page briefs. This is execution work, not strategy-from-scratch. Your scope — three lanes: 1. Technical SEO. Implement and crawl-verify a 301 redirect map (~20 legacy URLs) · resolve duplicate/cannibalizing landing pages (survivor selection is decided with us, you implement redirects + content merges) · fix noindex issues (~34 pages) · sitemap and crawl-budget hygiene · Core Web Vitals / page-speed pass · analytics plumbing: GA4 key events, call-tracking integration, Search Console linking, a simple Looker Studio dashboard. 2. On-page SEO. Title/meta rewrites on ~20 priority pages · build 2 new service pages and optimize ~6 city landing pages from detailed briefs we provide · sitewide internal-linking pass · structured data: LocalBusiness / Service / FAQ schema, validated. 3. GEO (Generative Engine Optimization). Audit how the brand appears in AI search surfaces (Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini) · implement answer-ready formatting (FAQ blocks, definitional copy, extractable structures) on money pages · entity consistency (schema sameAs, org markup) · establish a repeatable AI-visibility tracking baseline we can re-run monthly. Explicitly OUT of scope (we handle in-house): local citations, Google Business Profile, content/blog publishing, review management, and all outreach/authority work. Don't pitch these. What we provide: the audit, the plan with weekly deliverables, page briefs, all account access (WordPress, GA4, GSC), and a weekly 30-minute check-in. You send a short written update each Friday against the checklist. Requirements: 3+ years hands-on technical SEO for US small-business sites; WordPress + Rank Math fluency (redirects, schema, sitemaps) required Comfortable in GA4, GSC, Screaming Frog (or similar), PageSpeed/CWV tooling, and schema validation Real experience resolving keyword cannibalization and URL consolidation — you'll be asked to walk through your exact process Some demonstrable GEO/AI-search work (even experimental) — tell us what you did and how you measured it Strong written English for on-page edits; we do final QA Available ~15–20 hrs/month with a weekly written update. Long-term potential across our other client accounts. Budget: $550–750/month retainer for an initial 3 months (roughly 15–20 hrs/mo; Month 1 runs heavier than Months 2–3), extended month-to-month after. Quote your monthly rate for the scope above. To apply, answer the screening questions — generic proposals are ignored. 2 · Screening Questions A site has two live landing pages targeting the same city — an old one at position ~34 and a newer one also at ~34. Walk us through exactly how you'd decide which survives and how you'd merge them (redirects, content, internal links). You find 18 legacy URLs returning 404 that still hold ranking authority. What's your exact process, start to finish, to recover it — and how do you verify it worked? GA4: what would you set up as key events for a business whose leads are 80% phone calls, and how would you get call data in? Show us structured data you've shipped for a local service business. What types, why, and what happened in the SERP? GEO: a local brand wants to show up when people ask ChatGPT or Google AI for 'best water damage company near me.' What do you actually do on the website, and how do you measure whether it's working? What's your monthly rate for this scope, and what would you cut first if we had to trim 20% of the hours?
