Technical Pattern Engineering, Grading & Construction Sequencing for Retail Sewing Pattern Sale
Worldwide
I am launching an online sewing pattern brand and require a technical specialist to finalize my structural drafts for retail distribution. I provide the design concept and rough structural drafts. Your role is to engineer these into professional, industry-standard patterns. Scope of Work: Technical Finalization: Review, clean, and finalize provided structural drafts to ensure production-ready geometry (ensuring seam lengths match, smooth curves, true corners). Proportional Grading: Grade patterns professionally across two size groupings: UK 4–12 and US 14–22. Crucial Note: We expect proportional, true-to-body grading, not just linear mathematical scaling. You must understand how women's proportions and curves shift across extended size ranges. Construction Sequencing: Develop a logical, efficient recommended construction sequence for the garment. File Production: Export clean, layered PDF files for both size ranges in: A0 (Copy shop format) Tiled A4/Letter (Home print format) Projector Files Source Files: Final delivery must include all fully editable native source files (e.g., .AI / Adobe Illustrator files, .DXF). Revisions: Available for two rounds of technical revisions post-fit testing. Note: There is no time limit on when I will revert with edits, as each pattern undergoes physical prototyping. Requirements: Proven experience in professional, proportional pattern grading for retail sewing patterns. Deep understanding of fit and structural integrity across diverse body types. Ability to develop clear, logical assembly sequences. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator or industry-standard CAD software. Ability to follow a provided technical style guide (line weights, grainline conventions, etc.) to ensure brand consistency. Ability to produce error-free, industry-standard files (layers, grainlines, notches, text). To Apply: Please attach one sample of a layered A0/A4 sewing pattern file you have engineered and graded. 1. State your flat rate per pattern (includes finalization, grading, sequencing, native source files, and 2 rounds of revisions). 2. Briefly describe your experience producing files for the commercial home sewing market. 3. Briefly explain your approach to grading across extended size ranges (i.e., how you handle proportional body shifts vs. basic linear scaling).
