IT Technical Project Lead

(Part-Time Remote Contractor – Europe Timezone Preferred) About the Role We’re a small, established company (4 FTEs) running a specialized CRM platform with ongoing development, infrastructure, and contractor-supported work. We’re looking for a technically strong, hands-on IT Technical Project Lead to help coordinate and drive projects without the overhead of a traditional project manager role. This is a part-time remote contractor position. The person will report directly to the owner but will work with various team members and external contractors depending on the project. Some projects will require the lead to take ownership so the owner can stay hands-off. Key Responsibilities Gather requirements/specs from stakeholders and clearly communicate them to contractors Ensure contractors have the information, access, and resources they need to work effectively Actively monitor progress, check in regularly, and step in to help when issues arise so projects keep moving Establish and enforce proper version control practices across projects Assist with testing and quality checks before code moves forward Support promotions/releases to production environments Make sure all source code and related assets are properly stored and backed up Requirements Strong technical background (comfortable reading and discussing code, databases, and infrastructure concepts) Experience coordinating or leading technical work with contractors or distributed teams Practical understanding of version control (Git or similar) and source code management Good communication skills — able to translate technical details for contractors and business needs back to the team Self-directed and reliable in a remote, part-time setup Comfortable working across European time zones to align with existing contractors Nice to Have Familiarity with SQL Server / T-SQL Experience with Classic ASP or older web technologies Background in small company or startup environments where wearing multiple hats is normal Previous experience setting up lightweight processes (version control, release procedures, etc.) in small teams Position Details Part-time remote contractor role (hours flexible but consistent) Europe timezone strongly preferred for overlap with other contractors Reports to the owner Some projects will involve working directly with other staff; on others the lead will have more autonomy Competitive contractor rate based on experience
