a Technical Project Manager to oversee sprint execution, coordinate the development team

Summary

We have completed the planning foundations for Carpool App in Phase 1. Phase 2 is where the build begins. We need a Technical Project Manager to oversee sprint execution, coordinate the development team, and guide the prototype from backlog to a working proof-of-concept over the coming month. This is a light-touch oversight role. You are not expected to be hands-on in the build; you are expected to keep the sprints on track, surface blockers early, and keep stakeholders informed. What You Will Do - Oversee Sprint 0 setup: confirm Jira is configured, the dev team is on-boarded, and the CI/CD pipeline is validated before Sprint 1 begins. - Facilitate Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives across two 2-week sprint cycles. - Track delivery of the 10 Must-Have user stories (US-01 to US-10) against the agreed Definition of Done. - Coordinate with the Solution Architect to finalise and document the Architecture Decision Record (ADR) covering mobile framework, backend, database, and maps API selection. - Flag and escalate blockers as they arise; maintain a live risk log updated at each sprint cycle. - Own stakeholder communication: produce a weekly written status update covering progress, blockers, decisions made, and next week's plan. - Confirm lo-fi wireframe sign-off with the product owner before Sprint 1 development begins. - Check in on the matching algorithm prototype (postcode-level proximity) running as a parallel work stream. - Prepare the Phase 2 closeout report covering sprint velocity, delivered stories, open defects, and a Go/No-Go recommendation for the closed beta phase. Deliverables - Sprint 0 completion report: environment live, team onboarded, ADR signed off. - Sprint 1 and Sprint 2 delivery: US-01 to US-10 built, tested, and accepted by the product owner. - Weekly status reports: one per week, covering RAG status, decisions, and blockers. - Matching algorithm prototype validated: postcode-level route overlap working with dummy data. - Phase 2 closeout report with Go/No-Go recommendation for beta. What We Expect From You You have overseen sprint delivery on a mobile app or SaaS product; you can point to specific releases you shipped. You know Jira well enough to configure it, not just use it; boards, epics, sprints, and automation rules are familiar territory. You write clear, concise status updates that non-technical stakeholders can act on. You surface problems early, in writing, with a proposed solution attached. You have worked with remote development teams and know how to maintain accountability without micromanaging. Required Skills and Experience 5 or more years as a Technical Project Manager or Scrum Master on software products. Hands-on Jira and Confluence experience at the administrator or project-lead level. Agile/Scrum delivery experience across full sprint cycles, including retrospectives and velocity tracking. Familiarity with mobile app development workflows (iOS/Android or cross-platform). Strong written communication; status reports and stakeholder updates are a core part of this role. Preferred PMP, CSM, or equivalent active certification. Experience with mapping or location-based services (Google Maps Platform or equivalent). Prior work on marketplace or matching platforms (ride-sharing, carpooling, logistics, or similar). Familiarity with GitHub Actions or equivalent CI/CD tooling at the oversight level. Engagement Details Duration: One month, with possible extension to Phase 3 beta coordination if delivery meets quality bar. Rate: Hourly (submit your rate with your proposal). Location: Worldwide; async-first with two scheduled video touch points per week. Start: Immediately upon contract agreement. How to Apply 1.Tell us about one software product you oversaw through sprint delivery: what the team size was, what you shipped, and how you handled a blocker that threatened the sprint goal. Keep it to 200 words or fewer. Proposals without a specific delivery example will not be shortlisted.
