Technical SEO Specialist & Shopify Developer

The Technical SEO Specialist & Shopify Developer is responsible for ensuring every client website is technically sound, search engine friendly, and optimized for long-term organic growth. Unlike traditional SEO roles that stop at identifying issues, this position owns implementation, diagnosing technical problems and fixing them directly within Shopify and WordPress without relying on external developers. Working alongside the SEO Strategist, this role translates SEO recommendations into production-ready solutions. They are responsible for improving crawlability, indexation, Core Web Vitals, internal linking, structured data, and site architecture while maintaining clean, scalable code and an exceptional user experience. The ideal candidate combines strong technical SEO knowledge with hands-on Shopify development experience. They are comfortable editing themes, templates, Liquid, navigation, schema, and custom sections, while understanding how technical decisions affect both search performance and conversion rates. Technical SEO is not viewed as a one-time audit, it is an ongoing optimization process that supports every stage of a client's growth. Core Responsibilities - Technical SEO Implementation - Conduct comprehensive technical SEO audits using tools such as Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, and PageSpeed Insights. - Diagnose and resolve crawlability, indexation, duplicate content, redirect, canonicalization, and XML sitemap issues. - Implement structured data (Schema.org) to improve search visibility and rich results. - Optimize Core Web Vitals, site speed, mobile usability, and overall website performance. - Continuously monitor website health and proactively resolve technical issues before they impact rankings. Development Scope Your development work will include: - Shopify theme/template SEO adjustments - Schema implementation - Internal linking improvements - Navigation and URL structure support - Redirects, canonical tags, and sitemap fixes - Core Web Vitals and page speed improvements - Metafield/template cleanup for SEO purposes - WordPress technical SEO fixes Technical Collaboration - Work closely with the SEO Strategist to prioritize technical initiatives based on business impact. - Support the Website Growth Strategist by implementing SEO-friendly website structures and templates. - Collaborate with developers, designers, and content teams to ensure technical implementations align with both SEO and conversion objectives. - Provide technical recommendations during website rebuilds, migrations, and redesign projects. Success in This Role A successful Technical SEO Specialist doesn't simply identify technical issues—they eliminate them. They ensure every website maintains excellent technical health while enabling the SEO team to execute strategy without development bottlenecks. Their work improves crawlability, indexing, page speed, Core Web Vitals, and site architecture, allowing content and authority-building efforts to generate maximum organic growth. Success is measured by healthier websites, faster implementation, improved search visibility, and fewer technical limitations preventing client growth. Pay: This will start as a contract-to-hire role. You will receive per-client compensation before we decide to bring you on full-time.
