Role Overview VTech Dealer IT has completed a website rebuild and requires a contracted Technical SEO Specialist to audit, design, and implement advanced Schema markup (structured data) across the site. This engagement is a defined-scope project with clear deliverables and measurable outcomes. The web development team is not resourced for search visibility technical work, making this a critical gap to fill immediately to protect the ROI of the rebuild and position VTech competitively in AI-driven search channels. This role calls for a specialist already fluent in Rank Math for WordPress. Given the project's defined scope and timeline, we're prioritizing proven execution over ramp-up time. JOB OVERVIEW We are seeking an experienced Technical SEO Specialist for a short-term contract to audit, design, and implement advanced Schema markup (structured data) across our website. The ideal candidate will build a comprehensive, error-free structured data network to improve our site’s search visibility, eligibility for rich results, and clarity for AI search engines including Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT Search, and Perplexity. PROJECT SCOPE & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Audit & Strategy: Review our existing site architecture and identify opportunities to deploy foundational, content, commercial, and navigational schemas across all web pages. We serve a target nationwide, not only local to our HQs. - JSON-LD Generation: Write clean, custom JSON-LD Schema markup across the following core categories: - Foundational: Organization, Brand - Content: Article, BlogPosting, VideoObject, HowTo - Commercial: Product, Service, AggregateRating, Review - Navigational: BreadcrumbList, FAQPage, Event - Implementation: Deploy via WordPress using Rank Math as the primary Schema implementation tool. The contractor should arrive with deep, hands-on Rank Math expertise, including its Schema Generator, templates, and conditional logic, and implement custom JSON-LD directly where Rank Math's capabilities require it. - Testing & Validation: Validate all structured data using the Google Rich Results Test (https://search.google.com/test/rich-results) before deploying to the live site, and confirm with the Schema.org Validator post-deployment to ensure 100% error-free implementation. - AI Search Readiness: Ensure all pages are correctly interpreted by AI-powered discovery platforms. Identify and document AI Overview inclusion opportunities. - Documentation: Provide a handoff sheet mapping where each schema is deployed, how to maintain it, and a post-implementation monitoring protocol with performance baseline. REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS - Technical SEO Expertise: Minimum 3+ years specializing in structured data and technical SEO - Code Proficiency: Expert-level mastery of JSON-LD syntax; Microdata or RDFa experience a plus - Nesting Complexity: Demonstrated ability to nest complex schema properties (e.g., nesting Service and Aggregate Rating inside an Organization schema) without syntax errors - Tools: Deep familiarity with Google Rich Results Test, Schema.org Validator, Google Search Console, and Screaming Frog - Rank Math Expertise (Required): Proven, hands-on experience deploying Schema markup via Rank Math on production WordPress sites.
