Technical Sales Copywriter - Mining / Engineering B2B
Worldwide
Hourly rate | Ongoing engagement | Start ASAP We are an established industrial manufacturer (30+ years, mining sector) building out a complete sales and marketing asset library alongside a rebrand and new website. We need a proven B2B technical sales copywriter who can write for engineers without embarrassing themselves and sell without sounding like marketing. THE AUDIENCE Process and mechanical engineers at major engineering firms, reliability and maintenance engineers at mine sites, metallurgists, and procurement teams. These readers understand slurry rheology and wear mechanics, distrust hyperbole, and specify products off technical data sheets. Copy that reads as marketing gloss actively damages credibility with them. THE WORK • Review and sharpen technical data sheets to the standard set by the best in our market (applications, design features, properties and dimensional tables woven together with disciplined, benefit-led narrative). • Write and edit technical articles, web copy, brochures and capability statements from engineering source material, SME interviews and case study data we supply. • Case studies in a strict Duty / Problem / Solution / Result format with quantified outcomes (wear life, cost per tonne, uptime). • Enforce a defined brand voice: engineer to engineer; evidence over hyperbole (every claim tied to data or a documented case study); direct, technically precise, never corporate beige. • SEO-aware web copy without keyword stuffing; outreach email copy that earns a reply from a time-poor engineer. YOU • Proven B2B copywriting record in engineering, industrial or mining sectors - portfolio required. You know what a datasheet, a duty condition and a design code are. • You can take a 30-page engineering report and return a one-page executive summary a maintenance superintendent absorbs in ninety seconds. • Native-level English; comfortable with Australian industrial English conventions. HOW TO APPLY • 3-5 directly relevant samples: at least one technical datasheet or spec-driven document, one case study, and one piece of B2B web or campaign copy for an industrial/engineering client. State your specific role on each. • Your hourly rate, and typical hours for (a) editing an existing 2-page datasheet and (b) writing a 1-page case study from supplied source material. • Your availability and timezone (AEST overlap useful, not essential). PROCESS This posting is deliberately anonymous. Shortlisted applicants (2-3) receive the company identity, brand voice guide, example documents and content pipeline under NDA. Work is hourly via Upwork; the pipeline is genuinely ongoing (datasheets, articles, case studies, web copy, sales collateral) for the right writer. No template responses. Tell us the most common mistake marketers make when writing for engineers.
