Technical Writer to Document a Solar Cell & Semiconductor Characterization Laboratory.
Worldwide
Overview We run a research-level laboratory focused on solar cell and semiconductor device/materials characterization. We need a skilled technical writer to help us document our equipment and create a clear, professional profile of the lab's capabilities. This material will be used for our website, research proposals, student onboarding, and collaboration outreach. What we need you to do - Write clear, accurate profiles for each instrument in the lab (roughly 25–30 items), including purpose, working principle, key specifications, typical research applications, and its role in our workflows. - Produce a lab capability overview describing what characterization our facility can perform (I-V testing, quantum efficiency/spectral response, C-V and impedance analysis, four-probe resistivity, Hall effect, and field-emission measurement). - Organize the equipment into logical measurement "stations" and explain how they connect into complete experimental workflows. - Write in a professional, technically correct tone suitable for both academic and industry readers. What we'll provide - A complete equipment inventory (device names, manufacturers, and model numbers). - Photos of the instruments and lab. - Technical guidance and answers to your questions throughout. Skills required - Strong technical writing experience, ideally in physics, materials science, electrical engineering, or scientific instrumentation. - Ability to research and accurately describe laboratory instruments (SMUs, LCR meters, solar simulators, vacuum systems, etc.). - Excellent English, clear structure, and attention to technical detail. - Experience writing for websites or research/lab documentation is a plus. Deliverables - Individual equipment profiles (one section per instrument). - Guidelines for Equipment Operations and Steps. - A consolidated lab capability document. - Clean, well-formatted final files (Word/Google Docs and Markdown). How to apply Please share relevant technical writing samples (bonus if scientific or engineering-related) and briefly describe your experience documenting laboratory or scientific equipment.
