IT Technical Writer

We are a premium technology consulting firm serving biotech. We are looking for an exceptional technical writer to help our engineers and leadership team create consistent, accurate, useful, and up-to-date documentation across the business. This role is not just about proofreading or formatting. We need someone who can work with technical teams, extract information from engineers and leaders, structure it clearly, and turn it into documentation that is easy to use, maintain, and present to internal teams, clients, and executive stakeholders. The right person should be comfortable operating at the intersection of technical documentation, consulting delivery, knowledge management, and executive communication. What We Need Help With We are looking for someone who can help us: * Create and maintain clear internal technical documentation * Standardize SOPs, implementation guides, runbooks, and service delivery playbooks * Support engineers in documenting technical designs, configurations, workflows, and handoff notes * Turn rough notes, tickets, call transcripts, engineering input, and leadership direction into polished documentation * Create client-facing technical guides, executive summaries, and implementation artifacts * Maintain consistency in tone, formatting, terminology, structure, and quality * Help build a documentation operating model so materials stay current over time * Support leadership with documentation for proposals, client communications, strategy documents, QBRs, and service models * Improve our internal knowledge base and documentation taxonomy * Help convert repeatable delivery work into reusable templates, checklists, and internal products Example Documentation Types Potential work may include: * SOPs and process documents * Engineering runbooks * Client onboarding and offboarding guides * Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Azure, and security configuration documentation * Implementation guides * Technical decision records * Client-facing executive summaries * Security and compliance documentation * Internal service delivery playbooks * Knowledge base articles * Project handoff documentation * QBR and customer health reporting support * Templates for repeatable consulting engagements * Tool deployment and operational support documentation Ideal Background The ideal candidate has experience with several of the following: * Technical writing for IT, cybersecurity, cloud, SaaS, or managed services organizations * Working directly with engineers, consultants, or technical leaders * Creating documentation from incomplete or messy source material * Writing SOPs, runbooks, implementation guides, and knowledge base articles * Translating technical details into clear business-facing language * Supporting executive or client-facing documentation * Maintaining documentation standards, templates, and style guides * Working in tools such as Slab, Confluence, Notion, SharePoint, Google Docs, Microsoft Word, or similar platforms * Understanding technology concepts such as identity, endpoint management, Microsoft 365, cloud systems, security controls, ticketing, and automation You do not need to be an engineer, but you should be technically curious and able to ask good questions. What Makes This Role Different We are not looking for a writer who waits for perfect inputs. We need someone who can help create order from ambiguity. Our engineers and leaders often have the right information, but it may live in tickets, emails, meeting notes, Slack messages, diagrams, screenshots, or working documents. Your job will be to help turn that information into documentation that is clear, accurate, reusable, and valuable. You should be able to operate at both levels: 1. **Documentation execution:** Write, edit, structure, format, and maintain high-quality documentation. 2. **Documentation systems:** Help us create standards, templates, ownership models, review cadences, and a documentation structure that scales.
