Part time 20 Hr weekly - Remote work 9 am - 1 pm EST English / Spanish speaker We are hiring a Windows-focused System Administrator / Technical Support Engineer to take over most of the day-to-day technical work currently handled by the owner. This role includes both IT administration and hands-on end-user support. You must be strong with Windows troubleshooting, printer support, software installs, and managing NAS/file storage. #Key Responsibilities End-User Windows Support (Core) Troubleshoot Windows 10/11 issues: performance, profiles, login issues, permissions, mapped drives, email access, Teams issues Install and troubleshoot software: accounting apps, line-of-business apps, POS apps, browser issues, certificate issues Printer support (very important): install printers locally or via print server, driver issues, spooler resets, scan-to-email, network printer connectivity, printer mapping via GPO, resolving “offline” and queue issues Support basic hardware issues: docking stations, monitors, webcams, audio, keyboard/mouse, USB devices #Systems Administration Windows Server support: Active Directory (AD DS), Group Policy (GPO), DNS, DHCP, file/print, RDP Microsoft 365 administration: Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint/OneDrive, Entra ID (Azure AD) User onboarding/offboarding: create accounts, assign licenses, MFA setup, permissions, mailbox/shared mailbox access NAS + Storage Management (Very Important) Manage NAS devices (Synology/QNAP/TrueNAS/Windows File Server or similar) Create/manage shares, users/groups, permissions, quotas, and access policies Troubleshoot file access, drive mapping, SMB issues, credential conflicts, and performance bottlenecks Monitor storage usage, alerts, disk health (SMART), RAID status, and handle expansions/migrations Support backup jobs for NAS/file shares and perform test restores when needed Networking + Security (Day-to-day MSP Work) Troubleshoot LAN/Wi-Fi issues, VPN access, firewall rule basics, port forwarding, site connectivity Endpoint security: patching checks, AV/EDR alerts, basic remediation steps Backup and disaster recovery monitoring: failed backups, restore tests, reporting Operations Own tickets end-to-end, communicate with clients clearly, and provide accurate status updates Document fixes, write clean ticket notes, and create/update SOPs and checklists Proactively identify issues (storage running out, expiring certs, failing disks, license/M365 alerts) Tools & Platforms (experience preferred) Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 Microsoft 365 Admin Center, Exchange Admin Center, Entra ID Printer troubleshooting: local/network printers, print servers, driver management, scan setup NAS systems: Synology/QNAP/TrueNAS (or similar), SMB shares, permissions, RAID monitoring Remote support tools: RDP, AnyDesk/ScreenConnect/TeamViewer PowerShell (comfortable for admin tasks) Firewalls: Fortinet/SonicWall/pfSense/Ubiquiti or similar Backup tools: #Requirements Strong English (written and spoken) and professional client communication MSP experience strongly preferred Strong Windows troubleshooting skills (printers + software installs are mandatory) Experience managing file shares and NAS permissions (SMB, users/groups, access) Able to work independently, prioritize, and take ownership Reliable internet and ability to be responsive during business hours Working Hours / Availability Remote role Availability required during: 20 Hr /week On-call: occasional emergencies only Nice-to-Have Azure basics Intune / MDM experience Documentation/SOP building in an MSP environment
