Ted Talk Presentation Designer / Visual Storyteller Needed for Youth-Focused Signature Keynote Project Overview I’m looking for an exceptional presentation designer and visual storyteller to transform an already-written signature keynote into a highly visual, immersive and memorable presentation. The primary audiences will be middle school students, high school students, and civic/community organizations, with the potential for use with college-age audiences as well. The keynote is focused broadly on helping young people better understand how global issues, culture, technology, economics and current events connect to their everyday lives and future opportunities. The complete speech and intellectual framework have already been developed and will be provided to the selected freelancer. This is not a writing assignment. I am not looking for someone to create the content or simply transfer a speech into PowerPoint. I need someone who can take strong existing content and turn it into an exceptional visual experience. What I’m Looking For Think: TED-style storytelling + documentary visuals + modern educational content + pop culture + high-end keynote design. The presentation needs to hold the attention of a room full of teenagers. That means I am looking for someone who understands that sometimes the best slide is: ● One incredible photograph ● A powerful map ● A surprising statistic ● A short phrase ● An animated visual ● A 10-second video ● A revealing infographic ● An audience question ● A visual sequence that unfolds as the speaker talks I do not want slides filled with paragraphs or bullet points. Visual Storytelling The keynote explores how things young people encounter every day can reveal much larger connections involving the world around them. Without sharing the full framework publicly, the presentation touches areas including: ● Technology and smartphones ● Music and entertainment ● Sports and popular culture ● Sneakers, clothing and consumer products ● Global supply chains ● Migration and movement of people ● Artificial intelligence ● Economics and affordability ● International trade and shipping ● Climate and environmental disruptions ● Media literacy ● Careers and future opportunities ● Current global events The selected designer will receive the complete speech, including detailed examples, statistics, suggested visual moments and the underlying framework. I want a designer who can read that material and think beyond what I have written. If the speech says something that could be communicated much more powerfully through a map, animation, visual metaphor, infographic, photograph or video sequence, I want you to recognize that and recommend it. Multimedia Is Essential This is a major part of the project. I want short, strategically placed multimedia moments throughout the presentation. These may include: ● YouTube/video clips ● News footage ● Sports footage ● Music/cultural moments ● Documentary footage ● Social media/creator content ● Age-appropriate humor ● Short custom montages ● Interactive visual moments These should generally be short attention resets, not long videos that interrupt the presentation. The goal is to periodically make a young audience: Laugh. Lean forward. Say, “Wait…what?” Or see something that words alone cannot communicate as effectively. The selected freelancer should be comfortable finding, recommending, editing and integrating multimedia, not simply inserting links I provide. Audience & Design Style The presentation should be designed primarily for middle and high school students, while remaining sophisticated enough to work with college students and civic audiences. The design should feel: Youthful, but not childish. Smart, but not academic. Global, but not like a geography textbook. Professional, but not corporate. Energetic, but not gimmicky. The audience is accustomed to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, streaming entertainment, gaming and extremely sophisticated visual media. The presentation does not need to imitate those platforms, but it does need to compete for attention in that environment. Interactivity The keynote includes opportunities for audience participation and interactive visual storytelling. The final presentation may include elements such as: ● Show-of-hands questions ● Audience voting ● Visual reveals ● “Real or AI?”-style interactions ● Maps ● Product/supply-chain visualizations ● Career-related interactions ● QR codes ● Short challenges or activities ● Other creative audience-engagement techniques The designer should think about the live presentation experience, not just what individual slides look like. Deliverables The selected freelancer will be expected to produce: 1. A fully designed presentation based on the completed keynote. 2. A complete editable source deck. 3. Professionally integrated multimedia/video. 4. Custom graphics and visual treatments where appropriate. 5. Maps, infographics and data visualization where useful. 6. Consistent visual language, typography and design throughout. 7. Thoughtful transitions, animations and reveals. 8. A presentation designed for reliable live delivery. 9. A structure that allows statistics, examples and current events to be updated later. 10. Organized source information for external visuals/media used in the presentation. The exact slide count will be determined collaboratively based on the speech and the visual storytelling approach. I am more interested in quality and pacing than hitting an arbitrary number of slides. This Is a Repeatable Signature Presentation This is not being created for one event. The finished presentation should become a signature keynote that can be delivered repeatedly in classrooms, schools, colleges and civic settings. For that reason, the visual system needs to be distinctive and memorable while also being practical enough to update over time. Ideal Freelancer I’m particularly interested in designers with experience in: ● High-end presentation/keynote design ● Visual storytelling ● TED-style presentations ● Youth/education presentations ● Motion graphics ● Multimedia and video editing ● Infographics and data visualization ● Documentary-style storytelling ● Live-event presentations ● Branding and visual systems You should be comfortable functioning as a creative partner, not simply a production designer. I value someone who can read a paragraph of a speech and say: “I understand the point you’re making, but I think there’s a much more powerful way to show this visually.” That’s exactly the kind of creative thinking I’m looking for. What I Do NOT Want Please do not apply if your primary approach is: ● Generic PowerPoint/Canva templates ● AI-generated presentations with minimal customization ● Corporate consulting-style slides ● Copying large sections of a speech onto slides ● Stock-photo-heavy presentations ● Excessive or distracting animation ● Simply making information “look nice” I’m hiring for visual storytelling, not slide decoration.
