L3 Telecom Architect (Twilio SIP / Vapi / PBX Routing) — 48-Hour Fix
Worldwide
THE SCREENING QUESTION (READ FIRST): My internal team believes that our call transfers are failing because the Rogers PBX is sending a 200 OK immediately upon receiving a SIP REFER, and our AI Voice wrapper’s VAD is misinterpreting network audio artifacts as human speech, bypassing the operator timeout. In your first sentence, tell me if you agree with this theory, or if you suspect the SIP REFER or Diversion headers are failing elsewhere in the Twilio/PBX loop. If you do not answer this directly, I will delete your proposal. The Situation: We run a high-volume, enterprise AI communications layer for Canadian pharmacies. We have a severe, intermittent call transfer failure that is trapping patients in dead air. The Stack & Flow: 1. Patient calls a Rogers Business landline - Unconditionally forwards to our Twilio Canadian DID. 2. The Twilio DID is connected via BYO SIP trunk to Vapi.ai, which handles the conversational AI. 3. When the AI escalates to a human, Vapi issues a SIP REFER warm transfer back to a specific Rogers hunt group line via the Twilio SIP trunk. The Symptoms: On confirmed occasions, the transfer fails silently. Vapi and Twilio logs both show the transfer as successful (carrier responds with 100 Trying, 183 Session Progress, and 200 OK), but the physical pharmacy desk phone never rings. The patient gets dead air. We previously implemented a Twilio Function to strip Rogers Diversion headers to stop transfer loops, which may have residual effects. The Mandate: We do not need a junior developer to "explore" our architecture. We need a sniper. 1. Dive into our Twilio PCAP logs, Vapi logs, and PBX behavior. 2. Root-cause the silent drop. 3. Push a permanent fix (e.g., a Twilio-controlled dial sequence/TwiML function that detects false answers and retries a fallback line). The Offer: We pay for the solution, not the hours. Name your fixed price to solve this within 48 hours. You will have full read/write access to our Twilio Console and Vapi dashboard.
