The Crow Path Oracle Deck
Worldwide
Art Brief – The Crow Path Oracle Deck Project Overview The Crow Path is a 45-card oracle deck inspired by the wisdom of crows, the liminal spaces between worlds, Celtic mythology, the sacred feminine, and the transformative mysteries of life, death, endings and becoming. This is not a fantasy deck in the conventional sense. It is grounded in the ancient landscapes of Britain and Ireland, where standing stones, forests, rivers, hills and mists become living companions on the spiritual path. The artwork should evoke reverence, mystery and quiet power rather than spectacle. The intended audience is people seeking deep spiritual guidance, particularly women walking a path of healing, shadow work, personal transformation and connection with the Divine Feminine. Artistic Direction The overall feeling should be: Atmospheric Mystical Ancient Wild Sacred Earth-centred Powerful without aggression Beautiful without glamour The deck should feel timeless, as though each image has been discovered rather than created. Visual Style Preferred styles include: Painterly digital illustration Traditional painting style Fine-art realism with subtle symbolism Rich textures Soft lighting Cinematic composition Please avoid: Cartoon styles Anime Comic-book aesthetics Overly polished fantasy art Heavy CGI appearance Excessive glowing magical effects Sexualised or idealised female figures Colour Palette Primary colours: Deep crow black Charcoal Mist grey Weathered stone Forest green Moss Burgundy Dark crimson Soft gold Earth browns Moonlit silver Overall tone should feel earthy rather than brightly saturated. Recurring Symbols Throughout the deck, recurring motifs may include: Crows Feathers Standing stones Ancient pathways Rivers Wells Sacred trees Thorn branches Oak Rowan Hawthorn Mist Moonlight Fire Bones Keys Cauldrons Crossroads Hills Caves Ancient ruins These symbols should arise naturally within the landscape rather than appearing as decorative icons. Human Figures Where people appear: Diverse women across different ages and body types Authentic rather than idealised Strong presence Natural clothing inspired by historical Celtic traditions rather than fantasy costumes Expressions should communicate wisdom, grief, courage, transformation and inner knowing The figures should feel like real women rather than fictional heroines. Inspirations The visual atmosphere draws inspiration from: Celtic landscapes Ancient Britain and Ireland Sacred wells Hill forts The Morrígan and the crow as archetype (without relying on stereotypical depictions) Folklore Nature spirituality Thresholds between worlds Card Artwork Each card should tell a story. Every illustration should contain layers of symbolism that reveal themselves over time rather than presenting a single obvious meaning. The image should encourage contemplation and repeated viewing. Technical Requirements Portrait orientation High-resolution artwork suitable for professional card printing (minimum 300 DPI) Layered source files preferred Artwork should allow for card title placement without obscuring important elements Commercial rights to reproduce the artwork in printed decks, guidebooks, marketing materials and digital media Desired Emotional Response When someone opens this deck, I want them to feel that they have stepped onto an ancient path. Each card should invite stillness, reflection and transformation. The artwork should feel like an encounter with something old, wise and alive—a path walked with the crow as guide through endings, beginnings and everything in between. The deck is intended to become a lifelong companion rather than simply a divination tool. Thank you for considering this project. I am looking for an illustrator who can bring sensitivity, atmosphere and depth to the artwork while honouring the spirit of the deck. I am looking for an illustrator to create artwork for a 45-card oracle deck called The Crow Path. The deck explores Celtic spirituality, crows, liminal landscapes, the Divine Feminine, transformation, and ancient folklore. I am seeking an artist who can create a cohesive collection of atmospheric, painterly illustrations suitable for commercial publication. Please include examples of mystical, fantasy, folklore, or tarot/oracle artwork in your portfolio.
