Thumbnail Designer - Historical YouTube Channel (History Niche)

Hey there! We are building a German-language YouTube channel in the historical documentary niche and we are looking for a talented, hard-working, and experienced Thumbnail Designer to join our team. Our format: cities and civilizations evolving across thousands of years — from prehistoric landscapes to the modern day — using photorealistic AI-generated visuals. Our first video: Die Entwicklung Roms: 12.000 Jahre in 9 Minuten. We need someone who is deeply familiar with the history and documentary niche on YouTube and knows exactly what drives clicks in this space. In terms of quality and style, please study these channels before applying: - Timelapse Studio — youtube.com/@TimelapseStudioChannel - Timewarp Cities — youtube.com/@timewarpcities - Restored Timeline — youtube.com/@RestoredTimeline WHAT YOU WILL DO - Design 3 thumbnail options per video — we select one - Receive video stills and the German title from us - Deliver within 48 hours of receiving the assets - Max. 1 round of revision per thumbnail STYLE REQUIREMENTS - Cinematic, dramatic, historically immersive — movie poster aesthetics - Strong visual anchor: a landmark, era contrast, or dramatic scene - Bold, readable text overlay in German — max. 5-6 words - High contrast, rich color grading — must work at small sizes (mobile feed) - Format: 1280 x 720px, JPG or PNG, max. 2MB - No clipart, no generic stock imagery, no cluttered design TOOLS & SKILLS REQUIRED - Adobe Photoshop, Canva Pro, Affinity Photo, or equivalent - Strong understanding of YouTube CTR and thumbnail psychology - Experience designing thumbnails specifically for the history or documentary niche - Ability to work with AI-generated imagery provided by our video editor ABOUT THE BUDGET The budget listed for this job posting (10 EUR) is for an initial paid test project: 2 thumbnail sets (3 options each) based on our channel. This is how we get to know your work before starting the ongoing collaboration. The rate for ongoing thumbnail work will be discussed individually once we move forward together.
