Transcript Correction — Proof SRT Against Video for 99%+ Accuracy

Summary

OVERVIEW I need a detail-oriented transcriptionist/proofer to correct an existing auto-generated transcript so it matches the spoken dialogue with near-100% accuracy. This is a proofing/correction job, not a from-scratch transcription and not a video-editing job — you will not open any editing software. The recording is a 27-minute filmed interview between two people. One speaker (the interviewer) is off-camera; the main subject is on-camera and is a native Brazilian speaking English as a second language. His accent means the auto-transcript has meaningful errors. Your job is to listen carefully, watch his mouth where needed, and fix every word so the text reflects exactly what is said. WHAT I WILL PROVIDE A compressed reference video (clear audio, you can see the subject's face) An .srt subtitle file — the existing transcript, already broken into timed segments WHAT YOU WILL DELIVER The same .srt file, corrected, with the dialogue accurate to 99%+ against the audio Filename: [original-name]_CORRECTED.srt CRITICAL TECHNICAL RULES (please confirm you understand these when you apply) Correct ONLY the words inside each subtitle block. Do NOT change, add, delete, move, split, or merge the timecodes. Do NOT change the number of subtitle blocks — every block that exists must stay, in the same order. Do NOT reformat, re-punctuate the timing, or "clean up" structure. The file must re-import into my editing timeline and line up frame-for-frame, so the timing must stay 100% untouched. Editing tools like Subtitle Edit (free) make this easy — you correct text on the left while the audio/video plays. TRANSCRIPTION STYLE Near-verbatim: keep real words, but you may omit filler ("um," "uh") unless it's meaningful. Use [inaudible] or [unclear] with the timecode ONLY as a last resort after multiple listens. I expect very few of these. Match standard American English spelling and punctuation. Do NOT add speaker names — leave those to me. IDEAL CANDIDATE Strong ear for accented / ESL English (experience decoding Brazilian- or Portuguese-accented English is a big plus) Native or near-native English comprehension Experience proofing SRT/caption files Careful and literal — I need accuracy, not paraphrasing or "improving" the wording TO APPLY In one or two lines, tell me: your experience with SRT correction, and whether you've worked with accented/ESL English before. I have a short paid test clip (60–90 seconds) I'll send top applicants before awarding the full 27 minutes. SCOPE: ~27 minutes of dialogue, one file. Likely ongoing — I produce interviews regularly and want a reliable long-term proofer.
