About the Channel We produce highly praised, deeply researched true crime documentaries covering the most notorious serial killers in American history. Our videos go beyond surface-level storytelling, often exploring complex psychological frameworks and utilizing real federal investigative files. The content is exceptional, but we are looking for a true packaging expert to get the click-through rates (CTR) these documentaries deserve. The Goal Our current thumbnails are hovering around a 2-3% CTR. We are looking for a designer who can elevate our visual packaging to achieve a baseline CTR of 4% to 6%+. We don't just want a designer; we want a strategic partner who understands the psychology of a click. What You Will Do Conceptualize First: Partner with me to brainstorm and develop the thumbnail concept before you ever open Photoshop. Narrative Alignment: Read video scripts or watch rough cuts to extract the core premise, ensuring the thumbnail perfectly complements and promises on the video's actual content. Execute at a Netflix Level: Design high-converting, cinematic thumbnails that establish a premium, documentary-style feel. Who You Are True Crime Experienced: You have a proven track record designing for the true crime, mystery, or deep-dive documentary niche on YouTube. A Master of Psychology: You understand visual hierarchy, curiosity gaps, and exactly which colors and compositions work for dark, psychological subjects. Cinematic Aesthetic: You excel at sophisticated compositing and professional, Lightroom-style color grading. You know how to build mood and tension without relying on cheap, overly saturated clickbait aesthetics. Data-Driven: You design for the algorithm and the human eye, always keeping mobile visibility and CTR at the forefront of your decisions. Project Terms & Compensation This will begin as a paid trial for a single video. If the thumbnail performs well and hits our target metrics, this will transition into an ongoing, long-term hiring relationship.
