A/R Unity App (Android) enhancements/new functionality and fixes
Worldwide
Overview I have an existing Augmented Reality app built in Unity, targeting Android. I'm looking to bring on a developer to expand features and fix some bugs and unwanted behavior over time. Before we discuss the larger scope, I'd like you to complete one small, paid test task. This lets me see how you work with my existing codebase and how you handle a real AR interaction problem. A strong result leads to ongoing work. The test task My app already generates a sphere in space in front of the user (see video, eg. at 45 seconds). Right now it's just a sphere in the scene. I want you to make it walk-into-able. The sphere is hollow. When the user walks into it, they should see the inside surface of the sphere — as if standing inside it — and be able to look around and explore that interior surface, then walk back out. Note there are red lines/rods going in/out of sphere, so when you walk in you should see them inside the sphere. Required functionality The user is prompted to walk into the sphere. Once inside, they can look around and see the inside surface of the sphere. They can walk back out of the sphere. Notes and latitude Build on the existing module that creates the sphere — don't recreate it from scratch. You can make the sphere solid, semi-transparent, or both — your call on what reads best for the inside-surface effect. Tell me what you chose and why. The interior should be visible from the inside (inward-facing surfaces / culling handled so the user isn't looking at a back-face void or an empty scene). Keep it clean and commented enough that I can follow what you changed. Tech notes Target platform is Android. My app currently uses AR Foundation (please confirm in your proposal whether that matches your approach, or tell me what you'd use instead — I'm open). You'll be working inside my existing Unity project, not a blank scene. What I'll provide The example video with a timestamp showing the sphere in the existing code. Access to the relevant Unity module / project files needed for the task. Answers to reasonable clarifying questions. Deliverables The modified Unity files/scripts implementing the three functions above. A short note (a few sentences) on your approach and any assumptions. A quick screen recording (or Android build/APK) demonstrating: prompt → walk in → look around at the inside surface → walk out. How to apply In your proposal, briefly tell me: Your experience with Unity AR on Android (which framework, and a relevant example). Your read on how you'd approach the inside-surface effect (one or two sentences — I want to see you actually thought about it, not a generic pitch). Your fixed price and turnaround for this test task.
